As the Economics program continues to shape meaningful solutions for our communities, today we celebrate a remarkable achievement in research and mentorship.

Our warmest congratulations to the outstanding student researchers and valued members of this organization, Revin Joy A. Furigay, Reymalyn B. Mateo, Mark Angelo S. Reolalas, Glendale A. Serrano, and Michael B. Soriano, for earning 1st Place Best Undergraduate Thesis (Social Category, University Level).

Their study, “Production Costs, Rice Price Fluctuations, and Income Level Among Smallholder Irrigated Farmers from 2019 to 2024 in Solana, Cagayan,” exemplifies how research can drive real world insights and promote sustainable development.

This work was guided and advised by Prof. Jezreel M. Pattaguan, adviser and program chair of the AB Economics program. Mr. Pattaguan won 1st Place Best Mentor during the same university-wide search.

Presented under the theme “Research Excellence Driving Sustainable Development and Institutional Impact,” this achievement highlights academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful impact.

‎The event officially started with a warm welcome from Dr. Federica Gonzalez , who graciously opened the program and welcomed our guest speakers. We were honored to learn from Mr. Jerico D. Mallari of the National Youth Commission on Youth Empowerment and Resource Mobilization in Nation-Building, Mr. Vincent B. Paguirigan, Financial Advisor, on Understanding Insurance as a Tool for Risk Management and Economic Security, and Sir J***y L. Tumaliuan, Science Research Technician I, who shared practical tips and applications in doing research. With the active participation of the entire Economic Society, the symposium became a successful and meaningful learning experience for everyone.
