โGusto ko lang makasuot ng gown and ma-make-upan.โ This was my sole reason for joining the search for Mr. & Ms. CHaSS 2026.
I saw it less as a competition and more as an avenue to be as โkikayโ as I could. The process was far from easy, but I am deeply grateful to the Psychology community who walked with me, from looking for scraps for my photoshoot attire to running to Robinsons because one of my lenses ripped on the day of the competition.
With only one day of preparation before the official start of the shoot for Intramurals 2026, I knew the moment I was crowned that I had to go above and beyond for the CHaSSian community. However, I also needed the readiness and support of the council given the tight time constraints, support that I did not receive immediately, leaving me to grope for assistance on my own.
I faced conflicts the night before the shoot because I was not made immediately aware of changes that I was certain would affect my comfort and performance, all due to a lack of coordination. I could have dodged that scarring situation. I could have avoided facing that at all. Instead, even on the day itself, I was left confused about who to ask for help, which took a heavy toll on me physically and mentally.
I am hurt by how I was placed in a situation I did not choose and labeled with names like โdisrespectfulโ and โemotionalโ simply for fighting for the treatment I know I truly deserve. No student, myself included, should ever have to go through an experience like that.
While I recognize that perfection cannot be expected from a leader, we have a right to expect those in power to show up amidst uncertainties, someone who will not cause others to suffer from the repercussions of their shortcomings. Because we should not have to endure conflicts just for these leaders to learn how to lead better.
Still, I hope the CHaSSian community can understand my decision to step away from a situation that has compromised my well-being.
I also acknowledge the councilโs efforts to address this concern. Moving forward, I hope their utmost priority remains the welfare of the students placed in their hands.
Though I am stepping down from the stage, my bravery is not lost and the title given to me will not go to waste. I am redirecting it by pushing forward this concern, hoping for accountability and change.
Muli, maraming salamat sa suporta at pag-intindi.
