’S:CONNECTED | IT TRIPS & SEMINARS

Educational Tour and Industry Visit

The University of Cagayan Valley – College of Information Technology 4th Year students was filled with learning, discovery, and real-world exposure as the delegation officially arrived in Olongapo City for an insightful tour across key government and telecommunications institutions.

The journey began at the Olongapo Civic Center along Rizal Avenue Extension, where the students were warmly welcomed by the city’s Tourism Office personnel. The first stop introduced the students to the operations of the 911 Command Center, where reports, emergency concerns, complaints, and IT-related monitoring systems are centrally managed. Through this experience, the students witnessed how information technology plays a vital role in public safety, emergency response, and efficient governance.

The learning continued as the students were guided to the city’s ICT Office, where they explored the functionality and integration of servers, ISPs, routers, and NAS systems working together to maintain stable communication and data operations. The exposure provided the future IT professionals with a deeper understanding of network infrastructure, system management, and the importance of reliable technological services in government institutions.

The Day 1 tour further expanded through visits to the Law Enforcement District and concluded at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Telecommunication Office inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Here, students learned why Subic Bay is recognized as one of the leading hubs for radio telecommunications in the Philippines, highlighting the importance of innovation, strong leadership, and service-oriented commitment in maintaining excellent communication systems.

Day 1 became a meaningful experience for the UCV-CIT students as classroom knowledge transformed into real-world appreciation, inspiring future IT professionals to become globally competitive, technologically equipped, and service-driven individuals.
