Tubod College and MSU-IIT Forge Stronger Partnership Through Memorandum of Understanding on Extension and Community Development
After two years of meaningful collaboration in community extension, Tubod College and Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology have taken a significant step in strengthening their institutional partnership through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The event brought together Tubod College President Dr. Cherry Marie C. Paclipan, accompanied by the Head of the Research, Extension, and Innovation Office, Mr. Wilcon Erediano, Ms. Arianne Riz Santos, Institutional Extension Coordinator, and Ms. Crizylen Mae Catigbe, Institutional Innovation Coordinator. They were welcomed by MSU-IIT officials led by Chancellor Prof. Atty. Alizedney M. Ditucalan, together with Dr. Rosario Reserva, Director of the WE CARE Office, Dr. Amelia T. Buan, Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Angeline Dinoro, College of Education Extension Coordinator, marking a new chapter in the two institutions' shared commitment to community development through extension, innovation, and academic collaboration.
Although the Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed today, the partnership between Tubod College and MSU-IIT dates back to July 2024, when both institutions began working together on extension mentoring initiatives. Over the past two years, MSU-IIT has provided technical expertise, resource persons, and capacity-building support to Tubod College in the implementation of community-responsive extension programs. The ceremonial signing of the MOU formally institutionalizes this longstanding collaboration, reinforcing the commitment of both institutions to sustain and expand their shared initiatives in the years to come.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for the joint planning and implementation of extension programs responsive to the needs of the Municipality of Tubod and neighboring communities. Under the agreement, MSU-IIT shall serve as Tubod College's expert partner by providing technical assistance, specialized trainings, lectures, instructional materials, and qualified resource persons in support of the College's extension agenda.
The collaboration encompasses a wide range of community development initiatives, including the promotion of early childhood education and literacy, sustainable agriculture and biosafety awareness, peace and order education, disaster preparedness and emergency response, interventions for out-of-school youth, values formation, gender sensitivity, life skills development, livelihood enhancement, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and women empowerment. Through these collaborative efforts, both institutions reaffirm their shared vision of delivering responsive, inclusive, and sustainable extension services that contribute to the holistic development of communities.
Following the ceremonial signing and photo opportunity, the officials of Tubod College and MSU-IIT engaged in an intimate dialogue, reflecting on the accomplishments of their partnership over the past two years and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to formally strengthen their collaboration. Both school leaders emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding represents more than a ceremonial agreement—it is a testament to their mutual trust, shared values, and collective commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community empowerment. They likewise expressed optimism that this strengthened partnership will create greater opportunities for knowledge exchange, institutional capacity building, and impactful extension programs that will continue to uplift the lives of the communities they serve.
