Barangay Daclan and LGU Tublay provide immediate assistance to CMES for storm-damaged area

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tublay and Barangay Daclan demonstrated their strong support and commitment to ensuring the safety of learners and the entire school community by providing immediate assistance to Ciriaco Magno Elementary School (CMES) following the damage caused by the continuous heavy rains brought by Typhoon Maymay.

Due to the intense and continuous rainfall, a portion of the area behind the school developed a crack that required immediate attention to prevent further damage. In response, Barangay Daclan, through the initiative of the LGU Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Office of Tublay, provided a waterproof plastic sheet (sakoline) as a temporary protective measure for the affected area.

LGU representative Engr. Edgar Olida, together with Barangay Councilman Marlon Anton, personally delivered the waterproof plastic sheet and placed it along the cracked portion of the school grounds on August 11, 2026. Their prompt action helped provide temporary protection to the affected area and contributed to ensuring the safety of the school surroundings.

PTA Parents , school personnel join efforts to prepare CMES for possible resumption of classes

August 12, 2026 — Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Ciriaco Magno Elementary School (CMES) personnels , together with school Head Brigitte Beray, PTA President Sara Mae Nginsayan, rendered their time and effort to clean the school surroundings in preparation for the possible resumption of classes.

The PTA parents worked together to clear and clean the areas around the school, helping ensure that the campus would be safe, clean, and ready for learners should classes resume.

Some school personnel also reported to school to assist in the cleanup, particularly in cleaning the classrooms and the principal’s office. Their collective efforts helped restore the cleanliness and orderliness of the school following the suspension of classes.

Stakeholders conduct “One Beat, One Community” Program at CMES

Ciriaco Magno Elementary School (CMES) was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the “One Beat, One Community (Dancing for Peace, Friendship, and Safety)” program, an initiative aligned with the Municipal Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (MAGTPD) and a collaborative effort of the school’s stakeholders on July 20, 2026 during the flag ceremony.

The program brought together the Tublay Philippine National Police (PNP), Local Government Unit (LGU), Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), religious organizations, and youth groups to strengthen partnerships, promote peace and safety, and provide support to the learners and the CMES community.

The activity commenced with a short opening program attended by school personnel, learners, and representatives from the partner organizations. This was followed by a lively dance exercise led by members of the youth group, religious group, and the Tublay Philippine National Police, encouraging active participation, wellness, and camaraderie among everyone present.

One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of gifts to the learners through the initiative of the Tublay PNP. The gesture brought smiles to the pupils and reflected the stakeholders’ commitment to support the educational needs and holistic development of the children.

The program was made possible through the active participation of the Tublay Philippine National Police, headed by PCPT Angeline T. Dongpaen, with PSSG Allen Dave Senio, PSSG Bernan Buhay, PSSG Aprilyn Meloy, PCPI Charmay Alego, and Pat. Katrina Cariño; the Religious Group, represented by Mr. Jerry Esnara and Mrs. Mercy Dominguez; SK Caponga and Caponga Youth Productions, represented by Mcgyver Manuel, Maverick Tiwen, Vj Nestor, Gracel Berto, and Clarize Amoy; and the Daclan Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), represented by Councilman Waginer Picpican.

The successful conduct of the “One Beat, One Community” program highlighted the importance of strong collaboration among stakeholders in fostering a positive, safe, and supportive school environment.

“This activity aims to bridge the gap between the PNP and the school learners,” said PCPT Dongpaen, emphasizing the importance of building stronger relationships between law enforcement and the school community.

PTA general assembly highlights school feeding program, elects new officers

CMES conducted its PTA General Assembly on July 14, 2026, from 3:15 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. Parents, teachers, and school personnel discussed school programs and elected the new General PTA officers for the school year.

The assembly started with an orientation on the School-Based Feeding Program led by the School Head, Briggite Q. Beray. She discussed the importance of the program in supporting learners’ nutrition and health.
The program was highlighted to benefit eligible Kindergarten and Grade 1 learners.

To ensure the effective implementation of the program, the School Head organized the School-Based Feeding Program Technical Working Group (TWG), whose members will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the feeding activities throughout the school year.

Prior to the election of the General PTA officers, parents first proceeded to their respective children's grade levels to participate in the election of the Homeroom Parents-Teachers Association (HRPTA) officers. Each class elected its set of HRPTA officers, after which the newly elected HRPTA Presidents and Vice Presidents remained in the assembly to represent their respective classes in the election of the General PTA officers.

CMES learners experience real earthquake situation

Ciriaco Magno Elementary School learners experienced a real earthquake while inside the school premises on July 9, 2026, marking the second time they encountered such an event during school hours. The unexpected shaking surprised the learners, and some felt afraid as they felt the ground move.

Despite the sudden incident, learners remained calm and followed proper earthquake safety procedures. They immediately performed the Duck, Cover, and Hold technique and proceeded to the designated safe area. Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.

After ensuring everyone’s safety, classes continued while learners and teachers waited for the official announcement regarding possible class suspension. At 3:00 p.m., an announcement was made that classes and work were suspended due to the earthquake incident.

School Head, Brigitte Q. Beray reminded learners to always stay alert and practice safety measures at all times, especially if another earthquake occurs. She encouraged everyone to remain prepared and follow safety protocols to ensure the safety and protection of all school leaners and personnels.

CMES Receives DICT Starlink Internet Connectivity

Ciriaco Magno Elementary School (CMES) has officially enhanced its digital learning environment with the successful installation of a Starlink satellite internet connection through the initiative of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office.

The installation, which was completed over a two-day period on July 9 and 10 marks another milestone in strengthening internet connectivity in public schools, particularly those located in remote and geographically challenged areas .

School head, Brigitte Q. Beray, expressed her gratitude to DICT, to the Regional office and SDO Benguet for this valuable support to the school . She emphasized that dependable internet connectivity plays a vital role in promoting quality education, empowering teachers to access professional learning opportunities and ensuring that learners benefit from this technology.

Prior to this, the school received 114 mobile SIM which has a load of 25G monthly used by 105 learners and 9 personnels as a support to internet connectivity from DepEd through the office of SDO Benguet last school year 2025-2026 . The Starlink satellite internet system is expected to provide fast, reliable, and stable internet access that will greatly support teaching, learning, and school management.

The school looks forward to maximize the benefits of the internet service as it continues to provide quality, inclusive, and technology driven education for all learners.

CMES Conducts Earthquake Drill to strengthen disaster preparedness

As part of its commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of learners and personnel, Ciriaco Magno Elementary School (CMES) successfully conducted an Earthquake Drill on June 10, 2026.

The activity began with a brief orientation led by School Head Mrs. Brigitte Beray who reviewed the proper earthquake safety procedure, particularly the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" technique. She emphasized the importance of remaining calm and following safety protocols during earthquakes to minimize injuries and save lives.

Mrs. Beray cited the recent earthquakes that occurred in Mindanao as an example of why preparedness is essential. She reminded everyone that natural disasters can happen anytime and stressed the importance of being ready at all times. She also highlighted the proper use of hard hats and other protective equipment during emergency situations to help prevent head injuries.

During the drill, teachers actively guided their learners in carrying out the earthquake response procedures. The learners demonstrated discipline and cooperation as they practiced the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" technique and followed the designated evacuation routes to safe areas.

The successful conduct of the earthquake drill provided learners and school personnel with valuable experience in responding appropriately during emergencies. Through activities like this, CMES continues to promote a culture of safety, preparedness, and resilience among its school community.

Height and Weight Monitoring and Health Education Conducted for Learners

June 9, 2026 — Daclan, Tublay

In line with its commitment to promoting the health and well-being of learners, the school successfully conducted a height and weight measurement activity on June 9, 2026, through a collaborative effort between school personnel and local health authorities.

The activity was carried out with the support of the Tublay Rural Health Unit (RHU) personnel, Daclan Barangay Health Workers, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars, who
worked closely with the school in assessing the physical growth and nutritional status of learners. This initiative forms part of the school’s regular health program aimed at monitoring learners and identifying possible health and nutrition concerns early.

The class advisers from Kindergarten to Grade 6 played a key role in ensuring the success of the activity by organizing learners, assisting during the measurements, and helping with the accurate recording of data. Their cooperation ensured a smooth and orderly flow throughout the process.

In addition to the assessment, an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) session was conducted to further promote proper hygiene and healthy habits among learners. The session emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy daily practices, including regular handwashing, proper nail care such as fingernail trimming, and proper head cleaning to prevent common health issues and promote overall cleanliness.

School Principal Brigitte Q. Beray expressed her sincere appreciation to all partners and stakeholders for their invaluable support. She emphasized that activities like these are essential in fostering a safe, healthy, and learner-friendly environment, and that health education is equally important in shaping responsible habits among students.

The activity was also supported by the local government of Barangay Daclan under the leadership of Punong Barangay Sabado Abdon, represented by Kagawad Donna Alos, Chairperson of the Committee on Health. Their active participation highlights the barangay’s strong commitment to supporting school-based health initiatives.

Meanwhile, Clinic Teacher Wilhelmina Sito facilitated and coordinated the activity within the school, ensuring its efficient implementation and proper documentation of learners’ health data.

The results gathered from the height and weight measurements will serve as a basis for future health and nutrition programs and interventions tailored to the needs of the learners.

The school community extends its heartfelt gratitude to all health personnel, barangay officials, teachers, and stakeholders for their cooperation and dedication. Through continued collaboration and health education efforts, the school strives to nurture healthier, more active, and well-informed learners.
