Greetings, Eco-warriors! ๐๐
Ready to hop on another journey of learning with #๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป?
Today, we turn our attention to a plant that is fierce in form, rare in nature, and truly Filipino. ๐ต๐ญโจ
For this weekโs feature, we highlight a remarkable ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ that showcases the unique beauty of our countryโs forestsโfound only in the ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐. ๐ฏ๐ฟ

The Kris Plant is famous for its long, pointed leaves marked by striking white veins and wavy, blade-like edges. Its strong and dramatic appearance resembles the traditional kris sword, symbolizing strength and heritage. ๐ก๏ธ๐
This extraordinary plant is native to ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ผ, where it grows in ๐น๐ผ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ with ๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐ต๐๐บ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐. It flourishes in moist soil and warm climates, making it perfectly adapted to our tropical environment. ๐ด๐ฆ๏ธ
Unfortunately, the Kris Plant is now listed as ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด, ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐, and ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ด๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ have greatly reduced its natural population. ๐ข๐ฑ Without proper protection, this iconic species may disappear from the wild.
The Kris Plant teaches us that even the strongest-looking plants need care and protection. ๐ฟโจ
As responsible youth and ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ let us help by supporting ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐, avoiding illegal plant trade, and promoting awareness about ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐. Fungi and bacteria are like natureโs cleanup crew! They break down dead plants, leaves, and other organic matter, turning them into nutrients like nitrogen that help new plants grow and thrive. This process keeps the soil healthy and the ecosystem balanced.
These tiny helpers arenโt pickyโthey can even decompose unusual things like glue, paint, and jet fuel over time. Without them, dead matter would pile up, and new plants would struggle to grow. So next time you see mushrooms or notice fungi at work, rememberโthey are quiet heroes keeping our planet alive and healthy! ๐ฑ๐

Pandaka pygmaea is one of the smallest fishes in the world. It belongs to the goby family and can grow only about 1.1โ1.5 cm long. Because of its tiny body, it is almost transparent and very hard to see.
This fish is native to the Philippines, especially in shallow waters like rivers, mangroves, and brackish areas. It was first found in Malabon River, but because of pollution and habitat changes, it might not be found there anymore. It can also be found in shallow seas near islands like Culion in Palawan.
The Dwarf Pygmy Goby lives near the bottom of the water and feeds on very small organisms. It prefers tropical water and survives best in clean environments.
Even though it is tiny, it is important to biodiversity. The presence of this species shows that the water is healthy. But today, scientists are still unsure about its exact population, so it is listed as Data Deficient under conservation status.
And thatโs it! Pretty interesting, right?
Did you learn something new today? Keep exploring because you never know what amazing creatures youโll discover next! ๐๐ต๐ญ๐

A new week means a new chance to protect our planet. ๐โจ Little actions, when done together, create a powerful wave of change. Letโs keep the Earth happy and healthy! ๐
๐ Eco Move 1: Bring your own kit!
Tumbler, metal straw, spoon & fork, and eco-bag. Avoiding single-use plastics makes a huge difference. ๐ฟ
๐ Eco Move 2: Save energy, save the world.
Turn off lights when not needed, unplug chargers, and let natural light in. Maliit na bagay, pero malaki ang epekto! ๐โ๏ธ
๐ Eco Move 3: Upcycle instead of throwing.
Turn old jars into organizers, shirts into bags, and bottles into plant pots. Creativity + sustainability = win! โป๏ธ๐จ
๐ Eco Move 4: Conserve water.
Limit shower time, fix leaks, and reuse water for plants. Every drop counts. ๐ง๐ฑ
๐ Eco Move 5: Grow your own greens.
Start a mini garden at home or school! Even small pots can grow herbs and veggies. Fresh food, fresh air! ๐ฟ๐

Standing tall with its graceful white trumpet-shaped flowers, the Philippine Lily blooms in the cool highlands of Northern Luzon, particularly in Benguet and nearby mountain regions. Its delicate appearance hides its remarkable strength, as it thrives in rocky, windswept slopes where few other plants survive. ๐ค๏ธโฐ๏ธ
This lily is known for its ๐ฝ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐น๐, ๐ด๐ผ๐น๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐, and a sweet fragrance that attracts pollinators. Its beauty has long been admired, but sadly, it is now considered threatened due to habitat loss, land conversion, and unregulated collection. ๐ข๐ฑ
Plants like the Philippine Lily remind us that natureโs treasures are often fragile. ๐ฟโจ
As young guardians of the environment, let us continue to ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐, ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ these irreplaceable species. Every plant we save is a story we help continue. ๐๐
