On October 2, 2026, Davao Central College, through the REIDI Office, convened non-teaching personnel for the Research Orientation and Proposal Development Workshop. Spearheaded by Dr. Della Grace G. Bacaltos, the program reminded everyone that research is not only an academic concern, it can also begin with the everyday experiences, challenges, questions, and ideas encountered in the workplace.

Beyond learning about research, participants were given the opportunity to turn their observations into meaningful research proposals and present their ideas with confidence. Eight groups successfully presented their research proposals. They were also reminded that the first submission of their research paper is set for December 2026, giving them time to further develop their proposals and gather data for analysis.

The activity concluded with gratitude, shared learning, and a renewed appreciation for the vital role of non-teaching personnel in building a better institution. Through their voices, experiences, and willingness to learn, they continue to contribute to a culture of research, proving that meaningful change truly begins behind the scenes.

This coming October 02, 2026, Davao Central College, through the Research, Extension, and Internationalization for Development and Innovation Office, will conduct the “Research Orientation and Proposal Development Workshop for Non-Teaching Staff,” with the theme “Behind the Scenes, Ahead of the Curve: Enhancing School System Through Actionable Data.”

This orientation is an opportunity for non-teaching staff to discover how the information they encounter every day can become meaningful insights and practical solutions. By learning to gather, understand, and use data, they can help improve services, strengthen workplace practices, and support better decisions across the institution. Because behind every efficient school system are people whose work matters and whose everyday experiences can help shape a better future.

The Young Advocates for Service and Outreach (YASO) of Davao Central College – Basic Education Department is officially opening its doors for volunteer member recruitment!

YASO is a special interest club under the Basic Education Department and serves as the student manpower arm of the BED Research & Extension Office. We are committed to promoting volunteerism, community involvement, social responsibility, and service-oriented leadership through outreach programs, community extension initiatives, and other meaningful service activities.

We are looking for students who are willing to:
🌱Extend a helping hand to those in need
🌱Participate in outreach and community extension activities
🌱Develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
🌱Make a meaningful difference in the school and community

On September 18, 2026, Davao Central College (DCC) took another meaningful step towards transformative education through an online orientation entitled “𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘪𝘤𝘳𝘰-𝘖𝘚𝘚 𝘵𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘯 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘉𝘪𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦.” The orientation emphasized a simple yet powerful idea: education becomes more meaningful when students learn and are inspired to make a difference.

The program started with an opening remarks by Ms. Flora May Castro, followed by an engaging session led by the esteemed speaker Mr. Joselito “Jhong” B. Chavez Jr. The discussion highlighted the value of citizen science in giving students opportunities to look beyond textbooks, observe their surroundings, understand the environment, appreciate biodiversity, and contribute to building communities that are better prepared for disasters and environmental challenges.

The activity concluded with the closing remarks of Ms. Aimar M. Gerasmio, CJE Program Head. Through this initiative, Davao Central College continues to nurture an educational culture where learning happens beyond the classroom and becomes a catalyst for positive change. Because a sustainable future does not begin someday, it begins with the awareness we build, the choices we make, and the students we empower today.

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬: 𝐃𝐂𝐂-𝐁𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭-𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡-𝐒𝐜𝐢 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐁𝐞𝐞

Bringing together young learners in a celebration of knowledge, collaboration, and academic excellence, the Davao Central College – Basic Education Department successfully hosted its first-ever first-ever 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙝-𝙎𝙘𝙞 𝙌𝙪𝙞𝙯 𝘽𝙚𝙚 last September 17, 2026, at the DCC Basic Education Campus, Corner Rasay and Sto. Cristo Streets, Toril, Davao City.

Held in celebration of Mathematics and Science Month and Davao Central College’s 78th Founding Anniversary, the event gathered 11 participating schools, providing learners with an avenue to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in Mathematics and Science while engaging in healthy and meaningful academic competition.

In partnership with Quipper International, the quiz bee aimed to strengthen learners’ numeracy, scientific literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Through a series of challenging questions, participants were encouraged to apply their knowledge, think critically, and work collaboratively with their teammates.

The competition featured different rounds designed to assess the learners’ understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts, from foundational knowledge to more complex applications. The participating teams demonstrated determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm as they navigated the various challenges throughout the competition.

More than an academic contest, the event served as a platform for strengthening relationships among schools and fostering a spirit of fellowship, collaboration, and mutual support within the educational community. By welcoming neighboring schools to its campus, DCC-BED highlighted the value of learning beyond the classroom and the importance of creating opportunities where young learners can grow and excel together.

The successful conduct of the first-ever Interschool Mathematics and Science Quiz Bee reflects DCC-BED’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful partnerships. It also reinforces the institution’s continuing mission of nurturing learners who are equipped with knowledge, skills, and values to contribute positively to their communities.

As Davao Central College celebrates 78 years of educational service, the event stands as another meaningful milestone in its enduring commitment to empowering young minds and building a culture of learning, collaboration, and excellence.

On 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, Davao Central College (DCC) participated in the “𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗦𝗠𝗘𝘀” held at the 7𝗙 𝗦𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺, 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲. The activity aimed to strengthen the participants’ awareness, knowledge, and practical understanding of cybersecurity and responsible digital practices, particularly in protecting businesses from emerging cyber threats.

Representing DCC, the delegation was headed by Dr. Della Grace G. Bacaltos, Director of the Research, Extension, and Internationalization for Development and Innovation (REIDI) Office, together with REIDI staff members Ms. Vanessa Madelo and Mr. Joehenson Babao.

The training featured Ms. Lorna Bondoc, Master Trainer, who led the first part of the session on identifying what is real and what is fake in the cyber world. Her discussion provided participants with practical insights into recognizing misinformation, deceptive online content, and potential cyber threats. She further discussed Everyday Cyber Hygiene, highlighting practical measures that individuals can integrate into their daily digital routines, as well as Cyber Hygiene for Businesses, emphasizing the importance of establishing secure and responsible digital practices within organizational settings.

The second part of the training was facilitated by Atty. Rhia Benig, Master Trainer, who discussed Safe and Accessible Digital Spaces and Incident Reporting. Her session emphasized the importance of creating secure, inclusive, and responsible digital environments while equipping participants with essential knowledge on appropriate actions and reporting mechanisms when cybersecurity incidents or cybercrimes occur.

The activity provided participating Business Administration Students with potential skills in establishing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with valuable knowledge and practical strategies for navigating the increasingly digital business environment. Beyond raising awareness, the training underscored the importance of cultivating a culture of cybersecurity, digital responsibility, and preparedness as essential components of sustainable and resilient business operations.

Through its participation, Davao Central College, through the REIDI Office, continues to support initiatives that promote knowledge-sharing, digital literacy, innovation, and community engagement, contributing to the development of more informed, responsible, and cyber-resilient organizations and communities.

The activity brought together educators, students, researchers, and academic professionals from various institutions, fostering meaningful international collaboration and the exchange of innovative educational practices.

The BED Principal, Ms. Kristel Ann P. Pal, delivered the opening remarks while Dr. Della Grace G. Bacaltos (REIDI Director) shared the background and rationale of the said event.

About a hundred participants explored how game-based approaches can enhance student engagement, motivation, and academic performance while learning practical strategies, digital tools, and best practices for integrating gamification into diverse learning environments.

With an outstanding overall evaluation rating of 4.65 out of 5.00, the lecture successfully achieved its objectives and inspired participants to adopt more engaging, inclusive, and technology-enhanced teaching and learning practices.

Together, we continue to advance educational innovation, internationalization, and lifelong learning through meaningful global engagement and collaborative learning experiences.

The Basic Education Research and Extension Office successfully conducted the REIDI Orientation for the Basic Education faculty, introducing the office’s programs, initiatives, and key directions in the areas of Research, Extension, and Internationalization. The orientation provided faculty members with a clearer understanding of the REIDI framework, community involvement, and research and internationalization initiatives.

Through activities like this, the office remains committed to empowering educators with the knowledge and support necessary to contribute to the continuous growth and development of the Basic Education Department.
