PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Don Bosco Youth Center – Tondo, Alternative Learning System program (Secondary Level) is a program under the Department of Education (DepEd) which aims to reduce the number of out-of-school youths and dropped-out students in Tondo, Manila and other nearby areas, by giving them the opportunity to undego review classes in preparation for the Acceleration and Equivalency test
(A & E). Passers of the said exam will be considered high school graduates and will receive diploma, good moral charater certificate, certificate of passing and rate card. They will also qualify to enroll for college or any technical-vocational courses. The DBYC-ALS is being managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco (youth-in-charge), volunteer teachers and other personnel appointed by the youth-in-charge to facilitate the learning and spiritual activities of the students through the participation of Parish Pastoral Council and Parish Youth Ministry. The target students of the program are both young ones and adults aging 15 years old and above and must be an elementary school graduate. Aspiring students who are already married, parent or working are also encouraged to join the program. The schedule of classes is usually during weeknights and weekends based on the availability of the volunteer teachers and so that, we can also accommodate the working students. VISION – MISSION

- To educate the youth academically in line with the standards, directives and regulations being implemented by the Department of Education and also, in accordance with Don Bosco’s educational system – the Preventive System.
- To evangelize the youth through Christian and moral values formations and to attract the un-churched to become both religious and spiritual.
- To empower the youth by giving them the platform to showcase and to develop their talents and skills and by encouraging them to participate in various civic and social activities for them to become productive and active agents of social transformation.
