The Visayas State University Tolosa was established in September 11, 1971 and was formerly named Daniel Z. In August 14, 2009

, the Commission on Higher Education has identified the Visayas State University (VSU) as National University/College of Fisheries (NUCF) for Region VIII under the National Agriculture and Fisheries Education System (NAFES) as mandated thru Republic Act no. 8435, otherwise known as the "Agriculture and Fisheries modernization act of 1997.

Dearest Viscans, here is the alternate class schedule for the implementation of Blended Learning for the First Semester of Academic Year 2026โ€“2027, as stipulated in Memorandum Circular No. 208, Series of 2026, issued by the Office of the President.

Please take note of the schedule below and plan accordingly. Students, faculty members, and academic units are encouraged to prepare ahead and coordinate as needed to ensure a smooth and effective learning experience throughout the semester.

In line with the ongoing extreme heat conditions, the wearing of the prescribed school uniform will be temporarily suspended starting tomorrow, August 20, and will remain in effect until further notice.

All students are hereby advised to wear comfortable, breathable, and decent light-colored clothing while on campus. This is to help minimize the risk of heat stress and make it easier for everyone to cope with the high temperatures.

Students are encouraged to stay well-hydrated, bring water at all times, and take necessary precautions when moving between classes or participating in outdoor activities.

Your health and safety remain our top priority. Let us stay safe during this period of intense heat.

In light of the recent shooting incident reported in the country, we wish to remind all members of the university of the following safety measures:

โ€ข All university personnel and students shall wear their official VSU IDs at all times while inside the campus and use designated entrances and exits only.

โ€ข Security and Safety Services Office (SSSO) personnel are authorized to conduct reasonable inspections of bags, backpacks, parcels, and other personal belongings at designated entry points and during random security checks within the campus.

โ€ข All visitors, guests, suppliers, and service providers shall be required to log and present valid identification prior to entry into University premises.

โ€ข Everyone is encouraged to immediately report any suspicious behavior, unattended packages, threats, prohibited items, or other security concerns to the nearest security personnel or University officials.

โ€ข The bringing of fi****ms, explosives, bladed weapons, and other dangerous items into University premises remains strictly prohibited, except for authorized law enforcement personnel performing official duties.

We also urge everyone to avoid sharing or amplifying unverified information, particularly content that may cause unnecessary alarm. Instead, rely on official university channels for verified information and announcements.

Your safety is a shared responsibility. Let us remain calm, vigilant, and united in keeping VSU Tolosa a safe environment for everyone.

Please be informed that the temporary Compressed Workweek (CWW) arrangement for all VSU officials and employees across all campuses will be discontinued.

Effective September 1, 2026 (Tuesday), all VSU employees will return to the regular onsite work schedule, from Monday to Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. This means eight hours per day and 40 working hours per week.

In accordance with existing Civil Service Commission rules and regulations, any substitution, offsetting, CWW, flexitime, or remote work arrangement must have prior written approval from the immediate supervisor.

All VSU officials and employees are reminded to follow regular work schedule and help ensure the continuous, smooth, and timely delivery of services across VSU.

All university measures on energy conservation and responsible use of resources remain in force. Everyone is encouraged to use electricity, fuel, facilities and equipment wisely.

This advisory is based on Memorandum Circular No. 229, series of 2026, issued by the Office of the President.
