The 12th Wenceslao De La Paz Moot Court Competition, held on September 20, 2026, at the University of San Agustin, has officially concluded, with TEAM 310 emerging as this yearโs champion.
After days of rigorous preparation, argument construction, and heated exchanges, the competition resumed in the morning for the 3rd Preliminary Round, with the USA law students proving their stance before the panel of judges. With the field narrowed, the following teams fought for a place in the Championship - TEAM 306 vs. TEAM 309, and TEAM 310 vs. TEAM 307.
During the semi-finals, the participants were once again called to defend their positions before the bench. At the conclusion of the semi-finals, TEAM 306 and TEAM 310 earned their spot for the championship round.
As afternoon loomed, the most defining moment of the competition approached - the Championship Rounds, the finalists delivered their strongest arguments, presented before the bench, and gave their all for one final test of legal reasoning.
After deliberations, TEAM 310 was declared the champion of the 12th Wenceslao De La Paz Moot Court Competition, while TEAM 306 finished as first runner-up, ending the competition.
Arianne Gayle Espora of Team 310 was named Best Oralist following the Championship Round, earning recognition for her outstanding performance. Meanwhile, Team 309 was awarded the Best Memorial Award.
Beyond the recognition of this yearโs outstanding teams, the author of the Compromis reminded participants and members of the audience that while the problem presented may be fictional, the people in it are not. The statement served as a reminder that the competition extends beyond legal arguments and academic exercise. It encouraged both the participants and the audience to look beyond and recognize the realities experienced by people represented in the problem and translate their awareness into meaningful advocacy.
And with that, the 12th WDLPMCC came to a close.
