I saw someone making fun of this achievement.

Before mocking, try to understand first. The change from Andres Gumban Memorial National High School to Andres Gumban Memorial Farm School doesn’t mean students will ‘just plant all day’ and stop studying. It’s still a SCHOOL that follows the standard academic curriculum—students still take subjects like Math, English, Science, and Social Studies.

It’s called a farm school because it integrates agriculture into education. That means aside from classroom learning, students also gain hands-on experience in farming, sustainability, and livelihood skills. This kind of education prepares them not just for exams, but for real life—especially in a country where agriculture plays a huge role in our economy and daily survival.

There’s nothing to mock about learning how to grow food, manage land, and become self-sufficient. In fact, those are skills many people today lack. Farm schools are designed to empower students with both knowledge and practical abilities, opening opportunities in agribusiness, entrepreneurship, and community development.

So no, they’re not ‘just planting.’ They’re studying AND learning skills that actually matter. Maybe instead of laughing, take time to understand—because real education goes beyond the four corners of a classroom.
