STNHS Wraps Up Nutrition Month with Flavor, Flair, and Facts
STNHS— July 31, 2026
Colorful posters came alive at the library, the aroma of savory chicken filled the air, and cheers echoed from every corner of the campus as Southern Tinglayan National High School (STNHS) culminated its month-long celebration of National Nutrition Month today.
Anchored on this year's national theme “Sa PPAN, Sama-Sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!” with the sub-theme “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!”, the school's closing program highlighted not only the importance of healthy eating but also its inseparable link to caring for the environment.
The celebration transformed the school grounds into a vibrant festival of health and creativity, with four major competitions putting students' knowledge and talents to the test.
Chicken Takes Center Stage in Cookfest
The most anticipated — and most appetizing — event was the Cookfest, and Food Plating, where chicken was declared the main ingredient. From Junior to Senior High School teams, students showcased resourcefulness and culinary innovation, turning the humble chicken into affordable, nutritious, and eco-friendly dishes.
Judges were impressed as contenders presented Chicken Tinola with Malunggay with an array of fruits on the side, Chicken Adobo with Local Vegetables, and Braised Chicken Pastil — all plated with an emphasis on locally-sourced, sustainable ingredients, a direct nod to this year's call to protect natural resources to secure food systems.
Stories, Smarts, and Slogans
On the other side of the campus, the spoken word came alive through the Food Tale contest. Student-storytellers wove folk-inspired tales about the journey of food from farm to the Filipino plate, reminding the audience how responsible practices and backyard gardening can allay our food supply and nutrition.
Wits were then tested in the highly competitive Nutrition Quiz Bee, where participants from Grades 7 to 12 battled questions on Go, Grow, and Glow foods and other ideas related to nutrition.
Meanwhile, young artists made bold statements in the Poster and Slogan Making Contest. Armed with vibrant colors and sharp messages, students illustrated this year's sub-theme with slogans capturing the program's core message that human health and planetary health are one.
A Collective Commitment
As the program closed, the message was clear: for ST NHS, nutrition is not just served on a plate — it is lived, shared, and safeguarded.
The activity ended with students and teachers pledging to bring the campaign beyond the school walls — to their homes and communities — truly living out “Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat.”
