Flag Ceremony Marks Start of A New Academic Year at ANHS
By Symonne Theodore P. Cruz, Grade 10

June 16, 2025โ€” Antipolo National High School

Excitement filled the morning air as Antipolo National High School officially opened the new academic year with its first flag ceremony held at 7:00 AM. Students gathered at the school ground, buzzing with conversation, laughter, and the energy of a fresh start.

The ceremony began with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by Sir Jan Nicole Francisco. This was followed by the recitation of the Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas and a short prayer led by Maโ€™am Rachel Carinan, it was a solemn moment of reflection before the day officially began.

The spotlight turned to the familiar faces of whom will guide the students throughout the year. The school head, Maโ€™am Jovelyn P. Tanay led a brief but meaningful introduction of ANHS dedicated teaching and non teaching staff, giving students a glimpse of the educators and the people who will shape their journey.

The ceremony continued with the introduction of the officers of the Supreme Secondary Learners Government (SSLG). Every member stepped forward to represent the student body. Leading the group was SSLG President Ms. Leah Christine Bueza along with their adviser Ma'am Laarni Delos Reyes, who helped formally present the SSLG officers to the crowd.

"As the President of the Supreme Secondary Learner Government, I envision a school where every learner is seen, heard, and empowered. Together with my council, we aim to lead through service and unityโ€”fostering a safe, inclusive, and progressive environment that amplifies every voice, encourages active student participation, and strengthens the bond between learners and the school community", SSLG President Leah Christine Bueza said.

This was followed by Ma'am Jovy's brief inspirational message on honesty and love which touched the hearts of many Antipolonians. She commended two grade 8 students, Lhian Delfin and Ignacio Abiog, who returned a lost 50 peso-bill earlier that morning, which set an example for every Antipolonian.

By the end of the program, all teachers and students took a heartfelt groupfie to commemorate the beginning of a new era. Students and teachers also seized the opportunity to take memorable photos at the photobooth located near the school entrance initiated by the SSLG. Students' chatter soon faded and everyone went to their respective classrooms.

As the school year began, the ceremony marked more than just a tradition โ€” it has been a moment of unity, anticipation, and renewed purpose for the entire ANHS community.
