Another simple but awesome Montessori practical life lesson!

This buttoning activity aims to develop the finger control and dexterity to manipulate buttons, and at the same time, it promotes independence and concentration among learners.

We encourage the parents to have their kids do this at home, as they usually enjoy these activities on their own too. Take advantage of it and try to fit these skills in whenever you can. It's never too early or too late to start.

In Ausfort, we believe that every child has the potential to be a leader. Some may have more traits associated with leadership, but any child's leadership ability, at whatever level, can be developed with training and practice.

In our Senior Nursery and Junior Nursery classes, we designate a learner as the Leader of the Day, and his/her tasks include leading the prayer and national anthem, informing everyone of the date and the weather, giving reminders about class rules, and helping the teacher with lessons.

We teach them that to be a good leader, one must be a good follower first. Being the Leader of the Day instills in them the core leadership qualities: confidence, good communication skills, being humble and teachable, decision-making, and cultivating teamwork.

Look at our youngest Senior Nursery student (4 years old) whose first language is English, read Filipino phrases from our textbook with style and aplomb! He grew up speaking English and while that's a really good thing, learning how to read and speak our native language is just as important.

Sing, Spell, Read & Write, one of the curricula that we're using and which we modified for online use, is a very valuable resource! Look at one of our adorable Junior Nursery learners in a lion costume, with her forest diorama!

Our topic is animal habitats, and in her presentation, she said that a forest is home to most large and wild animals, including the lion.
