, August 27, 1855: In the heart of Sampaloc, Manila, a revolutionary was born - Licerio Gerónimo, a self-taught farmer turned fearless general who would later shake the foundations of two colonial empires.

From humble beginnings, Gerónimo rose through the ranks of the Katipunan and led Filipino forces in the Battle of San Mateo, where his sharpshooters took down U.S. General Henry Ware Lawton - the highest-ranking American officer killed in the Philippine-American War.

His story is one of grit, strategy, and unwavering love for country. Though history may not always spotlight him, his legacy lives on in Rizal landmarks and in the hearts of those who still fight for sovereignty.

Ngayong ika-9 ng Agosto, sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 10689 series 2015, ipinagdiriwang ang National Indegenous Peoples Day.

Ito ang araw na nagsisilbing pagkakataon upang kilalanin ang mga katutubong mamamayang Pilipino—pagkakataong tangkilikin, pahalagahan, at igalang ang mga tao sa likod ng mayamang kultura at tradisyon ng bansa.

Hindi lamang sila tao sa mga aklat ng kasaysayan kung hindi sila ay halimbawa ng kalakasan, pagpupunyagi, at katarungan.

Tayo ay magsama-sama at magkaisa na pangalagaan at ipagtanggol ang mga katutubong kapatiran maging ang kanilang kultura't tradisyon na patuloy na bumubuhay sa diwa ng Pilipinas. 🇵🇭

ADVISORY

28 April 2024 - In view of the latest heat index forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and the announcement of a nationwide transport strike, all public schools nationwide shall implement ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES/DISTANCE LEARNING on April 29 and 30, 2024.

Likewise, teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public schools shall not be required to report to their respective stations.

However, activities organized by Regional and Schools Division Offices, such as Regional Athletic Association Meets and other division or school level programs, to be conducted on the aforementioned dates may push through as scheduled, provided that measures for the safety of all participants have been carefully considered.

Finally, private schools shall not be covered by this advisory but shall have the option to implement the same.

SUSPENSION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES DUE TO EXTREME HEAT

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

By virtue of R.M. 233, s. 2024, the School Heads are given authority and responsibility to suspend face-to-face classes and automatically shift to modular distance learning in case of extreme heat reaching the heat index of 40 degrees Celsius as provided by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) or as issued by the concerned Local Government Units (LGUs).

Heat index is particular and may differ from one location to another. PAGASA Synoptic & Upper Air Station is located in Sitio Mayagay, Sampaloc, Tanay, which may have lower temperature compared to other parts of Rizal.

It is therefore inappropriate to base the heat index from other sources aside from PAGASA forecast.
Rest assured that we are always taking into consideration the health and safety of our learners, teachers, and non-teaching personnel in DepEd Rizal.
