On September 16 and 17, the school featured its Traditional Poster-Making and Digital Poster-Making Activities, bringing together students from different grade levels to showcase their creativity and talent.

The Traditional Poster-Making Activity was participated by students from Grades 7 to 9, while the Digital Poster-Making Activity featured participants from Grades 10 to 12. Each section or strand was represented by one participant, allowing students to express their ideas and perspectives through meaningful words and visual designs, while those in the Traditional Poster-Making category showcased their artistic skills through hand-drawn designs and carefully chosen colors and illustrations.

With only two hours to bring their concepts to life, the contestants had to balance creativity with the pressure of time. Despite their busy academic schedules and other school responsibilities, they still chose to take part in the competition. For an HGSian, every contest is not a burden, but a win-win opportunity—a chance to gain experience. Rather than letting the limited time hold them back, they embraced the challenge and gave their best to make the opportunity count.

Because being an HGSian means more than simply being a student, it means having the courage to step forward, the determination to take on every challenge, and the heart to never let an opportunity pass by. The greatest achievement was not simply what they created, but the courage to try, and the willingness to rise to the challenge.

At the Dolores Gymnasium, in front of Heart of Mary High School, HGS Basketball Team faced Heart of Mary in a friendship game, bringing together two teams through competition, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

The game opened with HGS striking fast, their scores matching the energy and excitement of the players and supporters. During the first quarter, the HGSians showed strong momentum, moving confidently around the court and making it seem as though victory was within reach. Their quick passes, and determined plays showed that they were not simply playing to win, they were playing to enjoy the moment.

However, Heart of Mary gradually closed the gap in the succeeding quarters, turning the match into a close and competitive battle. Despite the narrow gap, both teams kept calm. The intensity stayed on the court, but anger never took over. Players from both sides continued to compete fiercely while remaining respectful toward one another.

In the final minute, HGS fought to tie the score after several missed attempts, including free throws. With eight seconds remaining, Dimalanta took a final attempt to give HGS the lead, but the shot fell short. The game ended with Heart of Mary taking the victory, 53–52.

Although HGS fell one point short, the game proved that true victory goes beyond the scoreboard. A friendship game is about building respect, enjoying the sport, and bringing people together. They may have competed as rivals, but they left the court as friends.

As part of the Feast Day celebration of the Grade 12 students of Saint John High School, Inc. of San Juan, Abra, Saint John invited the Grade 12 students of Holy Ghost School, Inc. to participate in a Friendship Game held at Holy Ghost School, Inc. grounds featuring the games of volleyball and basketball.

The event featured thrilling volleyball and basketball matches, where students from both schools competed with skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Saint John emerged victorious in both volleyball and basketball, securing victory in both games.

Beyond the victories, the games brought students together in an atmosphere of friendship, teamwork, and camaraderie. More than a competition, the event celebrated the bond between the two schools creating memories through sports.

September 8, 2026 — With grateful hearts and joyful spirits, the Holy Ghost School family gathered today for a Holy Mass celebrating the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary—the woman chosen by God to become the mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Mass was presided by Rev. Msgr. Samuel T. Baruela, with the assistance of Rev. Kris Mitchel Albolote. The celebration invited the students and faculty staffs to reflect on Mary's life, particularly her trusting “Yes” to God’s plan.

The celebration highlighted the Blessed Mother as an example of faith, courage, and trust in God. Her willingness to accept God's call serves as an inspiration to face challenges with faith and courage. The Eucharistic celebration served as an opportunity for the community to come together in prayer and thanksgiving while honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. With the celebration of the Church and school community of her nativity, we recognize her important place in the salvation history and her role as the Mother of Christ, our Savior.

The Mass concluded with a flower offering to the Blessed Mother, as students and faculty members presented flowers and petitions as gestures of honor and devotion. Through the celebration, the whole school community was reminded to follow Mother Mary's example of humility, faith, and willingness to accept God's plan.

Warmly welcomed the Adtempco staff headed by Sir Raymond Bosque for a simple financial symposium about the aflatoun program

The aflatoun program founded in Mumbai, India by an entrepreneur, Jeroo Villamoria. It encourages and teaches the youth financial literacy by means of simple savings in their account. After the program the Holy, Ghost school family along with Rev. Msgr Sammuel Baruela and Rev. Kris Mitchell Albolote blessed the new Laudato Si Garden Gazebo withtgehelp of the Adtempco guests they opened the Garden for student use.

A day filled with learnings and financial wisdom, at a young age we should start saving money for a bright future. With the help and collaboration with the Adtempco staff the opening and making of the Laudato si garden would not be possible.

Can whistling really make the wind blow?

For generations, many cultures have shared beliefs about whistling and the weather. Some say that whistling can invite strong winds, while others warn against whistling at certain times because it may “awaken” storms or disturb nature. However, there is no scientific evidence that the sound of whistling can control or change the movement of air around us.

Wind is caused by differences in air pressure. Think of air like people moving through a crowded hallway. When one side of the hallway becomes too crowded, people naturally move toward an emptier space. Similarly, air moves from areas with higher pressure to areas with lower pressure, creating wind. When the Sun heats Earth’s surface unevenly, some areas become warmer than others, causing air to move from one place to another. This movement of air is what we feel as wind.

The sound produced by whistling only comes from vibrations in the air passing through a small space, such as between your lips. These vibrations create sound waves, but they are far too weak to affect large amounts of air in the atmosphere or influence weather conditions.

However, the belief that whistling can call the wind has existed in many cultures as part of folklore and tradition. Before modern science and weather forecasting, people often used stories and observations to explain natural events.

Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 is not only a celebration of the youth but also an opportunity for young people to showcase their talents, skills, and ability to work together. Through the programs and activities prepared by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), headed by Asniah Marie T. Antiporta, the celebration gives the youth a chance to participate, connect with others, and create meaningful experiences.

One of the highlights was the Laro ng Lahi, traditional Filipino games that have been passed down from one generation to another. On August 23, 2025, HGSians took part in the competition, bringing with them not only their skills but also the values and identity of the Holy Ghost School of Tayum, Abra.

Before the games started, the team began with their familiar school yell, “Veritas in Amore Vicimus.” Their energy and unity earned them Best Yell, giving them a 10-second deduction from their overall time, which helped them secure the 1st Runner-Up position. They also prayed before the competition, asking for God’s guidance throughout the games.

The team faced nine different challenges, from passing a ball using a handkerchief and flipping bottles to duck walking, sack racing, and building a pyramid of cups. While some games were easy and others brought pressure, they continued to communicate and support one another.

What stood out most, however, was not how fast they finished each game. It was how they worked together.

They accepted each other’s weaknesses, recognized their strengths, and adjusted whenever someone struggled. No one was left behind simply because they were not good at a certain task. Instead, they found a way to make each person’s ability useful to the team.

For the team: Rhiyana Escalante, Jasmine Honor, John Tamo, Carlo Castañeda, Troy Regalado, Mherniel Balitnang, Shaina Balingsat, Peter Enriquez, Myco Tuscano, and Janssen Tejero, the experience became more than just a competition. They realized that they could overcome challenges they once thought were difficult when they trusted and relied on one another.

In a simple way, the Laro ng Lahi reflected the true purpose of Linggo ng Kabataan. The youth may have different talents, abilities, and weaknesses, but these differences should not divide them. Instead, they can become the reason to help and support one another.

The games may have ended, and the competition may have produced winners, but the lesson goes beyond the results.
Because sometimes, winning is not about being the fastest or reaching the finish line first. It is about making sure that no one is left behind. And perhaps, that is the kind of victory that truly matters, not just winning as individuals, but moving forward as one.

Students and faculty members came together with faith and in prayer to celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15, 2026. The school community gathered for a Rosary prayer, honoring Mary and reflecting on her life of faith, humility, and devotion to God.

During the prayer, students and faculty members united in prayer as they recited the Holy Rosary. The event gave everyone an opportunity to stop, think and grow in faith while asking the Blessed Virgin Mary for guidance and intercession.

The celebration brought the school community closer in faith and in unity. Through the rosary, everyone was reminded of Mary’s example of trust and following God’s will. The celebration encouraged to apply these values in their daily lives.

A General Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting was recently conducted to discuss measures aimed at improving the safety and security of the school community. The primary agenda centred on the proposed hiring of additional security personnel to enhance campus protection and ensure a safer learning environment for students, teachers, staff, and visitors.

During the meeting, school administrators and PTA officers presented the rationale for increasing security personnel, citing the importance of maintaining orderly school operations and providing a prompt response to potential security concerns. Participants were informed of the proposed implementation process, expected responsibilities of the security staff, and the anticipated benefits of the initiative.

Parents were given the opportunity to raise questions and provide feedback regarding the proposal. The discussion highlighted the shared commitment of the school administration and the PTA to prioritise the welfare and security of the entire school community.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the school's commitment to implementing appropriate safety measures through collaboration between school officials and parents.
