Flavors of Nutrition and Teamwork

On the third day of the Nutrition Month cooking competition, the Grade 10 students showcased their culinary skills by preparing a healthy and well-presented dish, fresh lumpia, paired with refreshing fruit cocktails made from fresh ingredients. The activity highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition while providing students with the opportunity to demonstrate creativity, teamwork, and practical food preparation skills.

Each group prepared its own lumpia wrappers, adding creativity and originality to the presentation of the dish. The fresh lumpia, filled with nutritious vegetables such as carrots and lettuce, was both visually appealing and nutritionally balanced, often complemented by a flavorful sauce. The colorful fruit cocktails further emphasized the value of using fresh and natural ingredients in food preparation.

The students were divided into four groups, with each group preparing its own version of the dish. As the activity progressed, the workspace reflected a collaborative learning environment, with students working together while enjoying the cooking experience.

The final presentation showcased each group's attention to detail and creativity. The dishes were displayed on neatly decorated tables featuring well-arranged plates, vibrant fruit beverages, and simple yet elegant decorations that enhanced the overall presentation.

Joy fills the air as communities come together to celebrate Cordillera Day. Across the region, people gather to honor the rich history, unique cultures, and lasting traditions that define the Cordillera. The celebration also serves as a reminder of the values that have united its people for generations, including respect for heritage, cooperation, and resilience. For the people of Abra, this occasion is a meaningful opportunity to recognize their place in the Cordillera and to celebrate the identity that continues to shape their province.

Abra is one of the provinces that make up the Cordillera Administrative Region. Before it became part of the region, Abra had already developed a unique identity through the lives of its Indigenous peoples, especially the Tingguian or Itneg. These communities have protected their customs, languages, and traditions for many generations. When the Cordillera Administrative Region was established in 1987, Abra was included because of its shared history, culture, and geographical connection with the other Cordillera provinces.

The Cordillera is known for its mountain landscapes and diverse Indigenous communities. The region is home to different cultural groups that value respect for elders, unity, cooperation, and care for nature. Traditional practices, local knowledge, and community cooperation remain important even as the region continues to develop. These qualities have helped preserve the identity of the Cordillera despite changes over time.

As Cordillera Day is celebrated across the region, the people of Abra are reminded of the history and traditions that continue to shape their identity. The occasion also encourages everyone to value the customs, knowledge, and unity that have been preserved through generations. By learning about the past and appreciating the efforts of Indigenous communities, the younger generation can help ensure that the rich heritage of the Cordillera continues to thrive.

The Grade 8 Faithfulness class took part in the exciting cookfest. The energy in the place was fantastic. It was a couple of hours filled with teamwork, creativity, and of course, delicious food.

The challenge for the day was simple but fun. Every group had to prepare a tasty fish fillet, focusing on getting the dish to be perfectโ€”golden-brown and crunchy on the outside while tender and savory on the inside. To wash it all down, each group also prepared orange and lemon mocktails, which made the food even more perfect with a touch of sweetness and sourness.

With four groups competing, the competition was friendly but intense. Each team worked hard to prepare, season, and cook their dish. From crispy breading to savory sauces, the variety of flavors was impressive.

At the end of the day, it wasn't about winning; it was about teamwork and serving the dish with love. Everyone did a great job. It was a memorable event that showed how talented the Grade 8 Faithfulness class is in the kitchen.

A Safety and Security Symposium was held today through the efforts of the school's DRR Coordinator in partnership with the Philippine National Police (PNP) of Tayum.

The symposium focused on issues that students may encounter in school and in their daily lives. PNP representatives discussed bullying, students' rights and responsibilities, and juvenile-related concerns. They explained how students can protect themselves, make responsible choices, and seek help when faced with difficult situations.

Students listened carefully and actively joined the discussion by asking questions, especially about bullying and other concerns they experience in school. The PNP representatives answered their questions and helped clear up their concerns.

The activity gave students a deeper understanding of safety and encouraged them to be more aware, and respectful in school and in their community. Through the collaboration between the DRR Coordinator and the PNP of Tayum, the symposium reminded everyone that creating a safe school starts with being informed, responsible, and willing to look out for one another.

Holy Ghost School - A spirit of deep reverence and community celebration filled the sanctuary today as faithful members, local leaders, and visiting clergy gathered to officially welcome their newly appointed spiritual leader, the Reverend.

The installation service marked the beginning of a fresh chapter for the congregation. The dayโ€™s proceedings featured collaborative musical worship, heartfelt prayers of blessing from the church board, and a formal presentation of the parish registry to the incoming pastor. The solemn yet joyful event brought together generations of families eager to support their new shepherd.

During the inaugural homily, the focus was placed heavily on servant leadership and community engagement. The message challenged the congregation to ensure that spiritual growth translates directly into practical care for the marginalized, the youth, and the brokenhearted outside the church walls.

As the ceremony concluded and the community looked forward to a shared future of faith and development, the new Reverend left the congregation with an empowering reminder to guide their daily walks: "Your grades may open doors but your character will determine how far you go. Build your mind through learning but never stop building your heart through faith, kindness and service."
