Rain Fails to Dampen STEMAZING Spirit at Gaddani NHS

Despite the steady rain, Gaddani National High School (GNHS) remained a vibrant hub of creativity, innovation, and scientific ingenuity as it hosted the Dolores-Tayum District Festival of Talents – STEMAZING.

The inclement weather did little to dampen the enthusiasm of teacher-coaches and student participants, who rose to the occasion and showcased their skills in science, technology, problem-solving, and innovation.

Adding significance to the event was the presence of Mr. Leonardo T. Balneg, Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) of the Dolores-Tayum District, who extended his support and encouragement to the participating teachers and learners.

The celebration became even more meaningful for the GNHS family as Mrs. Caroline T. Barril, SHS Science Teacher, together with her student-participants, Brendalee Zanea Pacleb, Grade 11-STEM, and Loribie Mae Buenafe, Grade 12-ASSH, clinched First Place in the STEMAZING contest.

Their remarkable achievement brought honor and pride to Gaddani National High School and underscored the power of dedication, teamwork, creativity, and perseverance in transforming ideas into innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

More than a competition, the STEMAZING event served as a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of young learners and their mentors—proving that even the rain cannot stop the spirit of innovation.

The Provincial Government of Abra suspends face-to-face classes in all public and private schools from Kindergarten to Senior High School on August 18, 2026 for the safety of learners and school personnel.

Schools are advised to implement Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) in accordance with DepEd guidelines to ensure learning continuity.

This precautionary measure is also in view of PAGASA’s forecast of occasional to frequent rains over Abra due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), with possible moderate to heavy rains that may cause flash floods or landslides.

The Provincial Government of Abra suspends onsite face-to-face classes in all public and private schools from Kindergarten to Senior High School on August 17, 2026, upon the recommendation of DepEd-Abra, to ensure the safety and well-being of learners and school personnel.

Schools are advised to implement Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM), when conditions permit, in accordance with DepEd guidelines.

This is pursuant to DepEd Order No. 022, s. 2024, particularly Section 1, Article I, which provides for the suspension of in-person classes during disasters and emergencies while ensuring learning continuity through appropriate alternative delivery modalities.

Two Young Girl Scouts Elected to Leadership Posts in GSP Abra Council

Two young Girl Scouts proudly achieved new leadership positions during the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Abra Council election for School Year 2026–2027.

The election was conducted online through Google Meet, as stated in GSP Abra Council Circular No. 10, Series 2026. The election included officers for the Senior Cadet Planning Board (SCPB), Junior Journalist Guild (JJG), and Service Auxiliary Volunteers for Emergency and Relief (SAVER) for School Year 2026–2027.

Sharmayne Faith B. Laguicao was elected as Public Information Officer (PIO) of the Senior Cadet Planning Board (SCPB), while Xianne Herrah E. Marquez was elected as Treasurer of the Junior Journalist Guild (JJG).

Their election marks an exciting opportunity for both girls to serve, lead, and contribute to the GSP Abra Council. Beyond the titles they have earned, their new positions represent a greater responsibility to their fellow Girl Scouts and the organization they serve.

Their victory reflects their dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving fellow Girl Scouts. As they step into their new responsibilities, they are ready to contribute their talents, ideas, and enthusiasm to the GSP Abra Council.

For Sharmayne and Herrah, this achievement is not only a recognition of their efforts but also a new chapter in their journey as young leaders. Their election serves as an inspiration to fellow Girl Scouts to embrace opportunities to lead, serve, and make a positive difference in their community.

ARAL Tutors Attend District Orientation on the ARAL Program

Bumagcat Elementary School, August 8, 2026 - Braving the heavy rain and unfavorable weather conditions, ARAL Tutors from the Dolores-Tayum District gathered for the District Orientation on the ARAL Program: “Enhancing Teachers’ Competence in Delivering Targeted Reading and Numeracy Interventions.”

The orientation aimed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and readiness of ARAL Tutors in implementing the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program; equip them with appropriate intervention strategies and instructional approaches to address identified learning gaps in Reading and Mathematics; and improve learners’ academic achievement.

The activity also provided an avenue for teachers to clarify concerns, share insights, and gain a deeper understanding of the effective implementation of the ARAL Program.

The activity featured a team of resource speakers composed of May Charito Reyes, MTI; Krisheinne Niña Ramos, Teacher III; Flory Mae Escalante, Teacher III; Maria Teresa Tordil, Teacher II; Babylou Ternio, Teacher III; and Doris Teneza, Teacher VI, who shared their expertise and provided valuable guidance to the participants.

Public Schools District Supervisor Leonardo Balneg gave an overview of the ARAL Program and delivered an inspirational message anchored on the acronym SMILE- Service, Management, Integrity, Loyalty, and Empowerment. His message reminded the participants of the importance of serving learners with commitment, managing interventions effectively, upholding integrity, demonstrating loyalty to the mission of education, and empowering learners to reach their full potential.
The participants had a fruitful and meaningful learning experience as the orientation provided opportunities to clarify concerns related to the implementation of the program. Through the discussions and exchanges of ideas, the ARAL Tutors gained deeper insights that can help them deliver more responsive and effective reading and numeracy interventions.

As a participant, Mrs. Josephine Balmaceda shared her impression of the activity through the acronym ARAL: Assist struggling learners, Restore their confidence, Accelerate their academic progress, and ensure that every learner continues to Learn. Her reflection emphasized the important role of ARAL Tutors not only in addressing learning gaps but also in helping learners regain their confidence and believe in their capacity to succeed.

The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to the participants and resource speakers, followed by a photo opportunity, marking the successful completion of a meaningful day of learning, collaboration, and professional development.
