Seventy seven (77) years ago, the Charter of the United Nations was ratified and entered into force. From the ashes of World War II, the United Nations Organization was founded with the desired goals to establish international peace and security and to develop international cooperation and friendly relations between and among the nations.
The Philippines is one of the original members and signatories of the Charter of the United Nations. One of the founding leaders of this international organization, Major General Carlos Romulo made historic contributions to the United Nations when he became the first Filipino and Asian president of the Fourth Session of the General Assembly (20 September 1949 - 30 June 1950).
Many Filipinos followed Romulo’s footsteps in global diplomacy and international cooperation. You can be the next! Learn more about the world. Join the Bedan International Relations Organization.
Happy United Nations Day, diplomats-in-the-making!
