MARY, QUEEN OF THE APOSTLE

The feast of the Queen of Apostles was established on the first Saturday after the Ascension by the Sacred Congregation of Rites at the request of the Pallottine Fathers. Mary initiated her mission as Queen of Apostles in the Cenacle. She gathered the apostles together, comforted them, and assisted them in prayer. Together with them she hoped, desired and prayed; with them her petitions were heeded and she received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.

Mary is Queen of Apostles because she was chosen to be the Mother of Jesus Christ and to give him to the world; she was made the apostles' Mother and our own by our Savior on the cross. She was with the apostles while awaiting the descent of the Holy Spirit, obtaining for them the abundance of supernatural graces they received on Pentecost. The most holy Virgin was and always will be the wellspring for every apostolate.

She exercised a universal apostolate, one so vast that it embraced all others. The apostolate of prayer, the apostolate of good example, the apostolate of suffering--Mary fulfilled them all. Other people have practiced certain teachings of the Gospel; Mary lived them all. Mary is full of grace, and we draw from her abundance.

Mary attracts the zealous to the various apostolates, then protects and defends all these works. She sheds on each the warmth of her love and the light of her countenance. She presented Jesus in a manner unparalleled throughout the ages. Her apostolate is of the highest degree--never to be equaled, much less surpassed.

Mary gave Jesus to the world and with Jesus came every other blessing. Thus, because of Mary we have the Church: "Mary is the Mother of the Church not only because she is the Mother of Christ and His most intimate associate in 'the new economy when the Son of God took a human nature from her, that He might in the mysteries of His flesh free man from sin', but also because 'she shines forth to the whole community of the elect as a model of the virtues'. (Lumen Gentium. 55, 65) She now continues to fulfill from heaven her maternal function as the cooperator in the birth and development of the divine life in the individual souls of the redeemed." (The Great Sign by Paul VI) What do we have of value that we have not received through Mary? It is God's will that every blessing should come to us through her.

Because the Blessed Mother occupies a most important position in God's plan of salvation, all humanity should pay homage to her. Whoever spreads devotion to the Queen of Apostles is an apostolic benefactor of the human race, because devotion to Mary is a treasure. Blessed is the person who possesses this treasure! Mary's devotees will never be without grace; in any danger, in every circumstance they will always have the means to obtain every grace from God.

Several religious congregations practice devotion to Mary under the title of Queen of Apostles, including the Pallotines, the Marianists, and the congregations founded by Blessed James Alberione (the Society of St. Paul, the Daughters of St. Paul, and several others). In the twentieth century, Bl. Alberione promoted this devotion in a particular way.

𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙎𝙔𝙈𝘽𝙊𝙇𝙎 𝙊𝙁 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙁𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙀𝙑𝘼𝙉𝙂𝙀𝙇𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙎

Today, we are celebrating the feast day of one of the 4 evangelists, none other than St. Mark. Of course, all would agree that He is best known as the author of a Gospel. Like Saint Luke and Saint Paul, he was not one of the Twelve Apostles and so likely never met Jesus Christ in person. Scholars believe that the Gospel of Saint Mark relates the experiences of Saint Peter, Mark’s mentor. Each Gospel has its own unique sources, emphases, and symbols.

• Matthew is associated with the winged man — or the angel — because his Gospel focuses on the humanity of Christ, Saint Jerome affirms. In fact, it is Matthew who includes the narrative about the genealogy of Jesus.

• The lion is related to St. Mark because his Gospel emphasizes the majesty of Christ and his royal dignity, just as the lion has traditionally been regarded as the king. Mark’s Gospel begins with the prophetic voice of John the Baptist, crying out in the wilderness like a lion’s roar.

• Luke gets the ox, because his gospel focuses on the sacrificial character of Christ’s death, and the ox has always been a sacrificial animal par excellence, both for Judaism and Romans. In Luke’s depiction of the Nativity, the ox, with the donkey, bears witness to the birth of the Messiah.

• John, finally, is associated with the eagle for two reasons: first, because his Gospel describes the Incarnation of the divine Logos, and the eagle is a symbol of that which comes from above. The second, because like the eagle, John — in his Revelation — was able to see beyond what is immediately present. They don’t call St. John the Evangelist “the Eagle of Patmos” for nothing!

These symbols are taken first from the Prophet Ezekiel (1:1-21):

In the 30th year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles by the river Chebar, the heavens opened, and I saw divine visions…. As I looked, a stormwind came from the north, a huge cloud with flashing fire, from the midst of which something gleamed like electrum. Within it were figures resembling four living creatures that looked like this: their form was human, but each had four faces and four wings, and their legs went straight down; the soles of their feet were round. They sparkled with a gleam like burnished bronze. Their faces were like this: each of the four had a face of a man, but on the right side was the face of a lion, and on the left side the face of an ox, and finally each had the face of an eagle….

In the Book of Revelation (4:6-8), we find a similar description:

Surrounding this throne were twenty-four other thrones upon which were seated twenty-four elders; they were clothed in white garments and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning and peals of thunder; before it burned seven flaming torches, the seven spirits of God. The floor around the throne was like a sea of glass that was crystal-clear. At the very center, around the throne itself, stood four living creatures covered with eyes front and back. The first creature resembled a lion; the second, an ox; the third had the face of a man; while the fourth looked like an eagle in flight. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and eyes all over, inside and out. Day and night, without pause, they sing: “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, He who was, and who is, and who is to come!”

Kung ang pamantayan ng Diyos sa pagpili ng isang tao sa bokasyon ay ang ating mga mga pagkukulang at kasalanan, tiyak na wala sa ating karapatdapat tumanggap sa Kanya at sa Kanyang panawagan. Pero ika nga, "God calls us by name, not by our sins." Pinili at tinanggap niya tayo hindi dahil sa ating kagalingan, at lalong hindi rin Siya tumitingin sa ating kapintasan. Ang lubos na mahalaga sa Kanya ay ang pagkaroon natin ng lakas ng loob na piliin Siya at tanggapin ang Kanyang tawag araw-araw. Hindi worthiness kundi willingness ang kailangan ng Panginoon sa pagtugon natin sa tawag ng bokasyon. 😊

Ikaw, naririnig o nararamdaman mo ba ngayon ang Kanyang tawag? Handa ka bang tugunan ito? halina't pagnilayan natin ito ngayong kwaresma.

March 27 2022 Gospel Reflection: Luke 15:1-3, 11-32

The Prodigal son and the unconditional love of the Father

I beleive that sometimes we need to experience the emptiness of being lost, not for us to suffer discouragements but for us to appreciate the grace of being found and I beleive that God allows this thing to happen at some point of our life. Yes we can even see ourselves from this two sons but for this season I just want to focus on the love and mercy that God has done in my life despite from being too unworthy of it and as the responsorial psalm says "Taste and see the goodness of the Lord" may my heart savor and see His goodness in my life even in times of my lost. GOD BLESS US ALL ❤
