Hanna Crissa Galulu, a third-year student from the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Filipino (BSED-Filipino) and the representative of Barangay Balingcanaway, was hailed as first runner-up at the Miss Tarlac City 2026 Coronation Night held at Tarlac City Plazuela on January 22.
Galulu kicked off strong by flaunting her swimwear and โCanawayโ dress, which featured flowing white feathers that symbolize the Tagak bird, from which the word Canaway was coined. The costume also shimmered with diamonds that mirror light and resilience, honoring Brgy. Balingcanaway while celebrating its purity, freedom, and ancestral identity.
Eventually, Galulu secured a ticket to the Top 10, giving her the opportunity to exhibit her ideas and beliefs about the hashtag she randomly picked, .
โI am a multi-faceted woman; I wear different shoes in different fields. Aside from being a beauty queen, I am also a student-journalist, and I believe I will always choose to be a journalist over the crown, because I have the purpose, I have the advocacy, and I will use my very platform not just as a beauty queen but also as a student-journalist to cultivate a positive change in our community,โ Galulu gracefully answered, earning cheers from the crowd and a spot in the final round.
Standing beside four young ladies from different barangays who were also hoping to walk away with the coveted crown, Galulu kept her composure while answering the final and common question.
When asked how they would promote Tarlac City to the world and what story they would tell that goes beyond its destination and highlights its people, Galulu centered her answers on the traits of Tarlaqueรฑos.
โI believe there's so much to tell about Tarlac City and that makes Tarlac City rich when it comes to historical stories, cultures, and traditions. But if I will promote Tarlac City into the world that beyond its people, it's their stories when it comes to solving uncertainties and problems that we are facing. That Tarlaqueรฑos are strong and always pushing so hard to get out of those situations, to always put themselves in the best situation they can be in the best way possible. And I would like to impart it to all of youโto every Tarlaqueรฑos that it doesn't matter how hard the circumstances is but as long as you have the heart to fulfill everything, you'll go through it,โ Galulu answered.
Towards the end, Jean Grai De Jesus from Brgy. San Juan Bautista, who is also a student at Tarlac State University (TSU), was declared the titleholder for this yearโs edition.
