169 years ago, Robert Baden-Powell was born. He saw that young people can do more than they are told, and that character is shaped by the choices we make every day.

𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗚𝗗𝗠𝗖 𝗭𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗔 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗗𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟰𝟱𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗖𝗦𝗝 𝗭𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗔 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘

January 31, 2024 — A zumba challenge took place with over 30 secondary schools participating and the said competition. Each team has the opportunity to showcase their original choreography of the song "Pilipino, Galing Natin Ito!" The official zumba dance.

The shakers are confident with their own choreography. Their routines were based on the song's lyrics and rhythm. At the end of the elimination round, twelve schools will compete for the final round of the challenge on the next day. Successfully, GDMC Zumba shakers advanced to the final round earning a spot among the top 12 groups for the finals.

February 1, 2024, the final round of the Zumba event was a thrilling spectacle. GDMC Zumba Shakers woke up and rehearsed early in the morning preparing for an intense showdown. After the energetic battle among the top 12 groups, the judges had the challenging task of determining the winners.

GDMC Zumba Shakers' exceptional performance and unwavering commitment earned them a well-deserved 3rd place in the competition with their coach T. Alfred, a well-deserved recognition of their dedication and unity. It was the first time that GDMC won a trophy since its first entry.

"We didn't expect we'll make it to the top 6 since all teams are well prepared and they have their own creative outfits. After our performance in the final round, we already accepted whatever result will come out. Tbh, we are all tired that day but I told my team to pull this off for the last time. We even did some cringe and weird dance moves before our performance. Nonetheless, we already reached this far in the competition. We are all shocked that we still managed to achieve third place," said by their coach T. Alfred after receiving the award.

It was a spontaneous explosion of color and motion as each group moved in perfect sync, their bodies flowing with the music. The display was not only a testament to their skills but also a preview of the fierce competition that was to come. The Oval was alive with twirling fabrics, intricate footwork, and the shared language of dance.

Despite the bitter taste of defeat from the previous year, GDMC embraced the setback with humility, using it to rise again with determination and an even stronger, persistent spirit.

Their performance centered around the theme “Tarlac Council, Atin 'to!” left both the audience and judges in awe, making it a stand-out. The performance began with their yell, echoing the values of scouting. The accompanying song, “Where You Are,” also conveyed a message on resourcefulness, environmental appreciation, and finding fulfillment in the present moment, emphasizing that true success and happiness come from staying true and making the most of present opportunities.

In the skit segment, GDMC presented a unique piece of a pageantry competition. It underscored the significance of embracing and appreciating one's roots, traditions, and local resources. This resonated seamlessly with this year's theme, "Tarlac Council, Atin 'to!"

As a result, GDMC defeats Area 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. In the face of challenges, they demonstrated resilience and a commitment to excellence. Being able to be this year's champion is a testament to their efforts and the values they embody as a team, making it a spirit of scout.

GERONA, TARLAC — January 24–28, 2026.
Sub-camp Makatao’s representative, GDMC, once again proved their dominance as they claimed the Campfire Yell Championship at the 46th Tarlac Council Scout Jamboree, held at Camasan Eco-Park, Gerona, Tarlac.

Fresh from their iconic victory at the 45th TCSJ held at Tarlac Recreational Park in 2024, GDMC returned as the defending champions with a composed yet powerful routine that reaffirmed their place at the top. Driven by discipline, unity, and an unyielding fighting spirit, the team was determined to reclaim their title—and they delivered.

During the Grand Campfire Round, GDMC represented Sub-camp Makatao as they competed against contingents from Sub-camp Maka-Diyos, Makakalikasan, and Makabansa. With this year’s theme, “Tarlac Council, Una Ka!”, their performance emphasized service with purpose and passion, grounded in unity and oneness.

Their yell revolved around the powerful line “Nagbabalik, muling aangat!”, symbolizing resilience, determination, and their commitment to representing Area 7 and Sub-camp Makatao with honor. Another striking line, “Makatao, Vision Clear, Mission to Bring Glory Here,” highlighted their standard of excellence and their role as agents of positive change—courageous, virtuous, and influential wherever they may be.

Despite the pressure of defending their title, the Montessorians executed their performance flawlessly, leaving audiences and viewers in awe. Their precision, energy, and passion reflected not only months of preparation but also the weight of responsibility they proudly carried as reigning champions.

In the end, GDMC decisively swept past the competition, cementing their status as the back-to-back champions of Area 7 and now the undisputed face of Sub-camp Makatao. Amid challenges and high expectations, the team once again proved their strength and consistency, carrying their school’s name with pride.

GDMC proudly commends T. John Alfred Sumoba for leading the team to yet another unwavering victory. This triumph stands as a testament to his relentless dedication and hard work—a milestone achievement that sets a high bar and truly earns its place one for the books.

The GDMC is ready to present their talents through organized yells, songs, and skits that reflect teamwork and collective spirit. In addition to these presentations, they will also encourage wellness and active participation by leading Zumba activities throughout the event.🔥

Through these efforts, the GDMC seeks to represent the core values of scouting—leadership, collaboration, and service—while contributing to a successful and memorable Tarlac Council Scout Jamboree.
