Driven to professional development, the Tarlac State University (TSU), through the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Office of Graduate Studies (OGS), Doctor of Philosophy in English Language Education (PhD-ELE) class, conducted the International Webinar on Professional Development among Teachers through Classroom-based Action Research and Innovations, with the theme, โFrom Practice to Impact: Empowering Teachers through Research and Innovation,โ July 5 via Zoom.
With more than 400 teacher-attendees from public and private institutions in the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, Thailand, USA, and Vietnam, the one-day webinar offered meaningful discussions on transdisciplinary research from classroom-based problems to innovative solutions that address not only school concerns but also ways to reach the communities.
Esteemed keynote speakers steered the discussions. Dr. Bernardo N. Sepeda, Executive Director of the Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) focused on โIdentifying Real World Problems through Transdisciplinary Research Approach.โ From the Department of English, Arizona State University, USA, Professor Dr. Peter Joseph Torres discoursed on โSelecting Research Topics from Classroom Problems.โ Clinching the webinar are the tandem of Dr. Ruth D. Jimenez, Chief of School Governance and Operations Division and Dr. Jesusa A. Novesteras, Senior Education Program Specialist for Planning & Research, both from Department of Education-Tarlac City, presented the โClassroom-based Action Research (CBAR) Guidelines, Ethics, Format,โ and โHow to Translate CBAR to Innovations,โ respectively.
In attendance and full support is Dr. Erwin P. Lacanlale, TSU Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, along with Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who emphasized the significant role of classroom teachers in identifying the learning barriers of learners so that teachers can provide research-based solutions to their learners in particular and to the school in general.
Other TSU key officials joined Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, to welcome the virtual participants and to encourage them to continue to do innovative research to better the education landscape in their respective countries.

Dr. Ninez B. Tulo, Area/Program Head of the PhD-ELE, along with Dr. Ladia, mentored this cohort in organizing the said international webinar. As announced by PhD-ELE class organizers, e-certificates are provided to the webinar completers and confirmed registrants who accomplished the attendance and evaluation e-forms.
