Celebrated on May 8th, the founder Jean Henri Dunant's birthday, World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day recognizes the commitment of millions of volunteers and humanitarian workers around the globe. This day honors their unselfish efforts to serve communities in times of need, demonstrating humanity, bravery, and compassion.

From Dunant's beliefs and observations after seeing the Battle of Solferino in 1859, the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement was founded and has since expanded to become the largest humanitarian organization in the world. It offers safety and support in a number of areas, such as community resilience, youth empowerment, blood services, and disaster response. Their work is guided by the fundamental values of humanism, independence, neutrality, and impartiality, particularly in a world that is experiencing more complexity, conflicts, natural catastrophes, and medical emergencies.

The event is also a powerful reminder of the risks associated with working as a humanitarian worker, with many having given up their lives doing so. This movement focuses on its determination to ensure the safety of such workers and maintain international humanitarian laws. Finally, the day reminds everyone of how limitless mankind can be and how all of us together strive to bring about change.

THE BIRTH OF PHILIPPINE RED CROSS⛑️🩸

Shortly after gaining recognition from the International Red Cross in Geneva, the Philippine Red Cross was established under Republic Act No. 95 as an independent humanitarian organization dedicated to disaster relief. Since then, it has continued to fulfill its mission of alleviating suffering and building resilient communities through various services, including disaster response, health promotion, and volunteerism.

Indeed, the Philippine Redcross is a pillar of hope, compassion, and protection. Empowering lives and saving humanity!

𝐓𝐒𝐔 𝐅𝐑𝐂𝐘𝐂 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄&𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆

TheTSU-Federation of Red Cross Youth Council 2025-2026 take their first aid lecture and training, themed “𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑩𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔” last January 31, 2026 at the College of Engineering AVR, Tarlac State University.

The activity focused on discussing the Introduction of First Aid followed by demonstration of Bandaging and Lifting Techniques. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our key instructors, who played an essential role in the success of this event, Sir Darren Saballa and Ally Valenzuela of the Philippine Red Cross-Tarlac Chapter.

This initiative aims to strengthen the skills, knowledge and commitment in giving first aid and humanitarian services of the TSU-Federation of Red Cross Youth Council 2025-2026.

The activity was concluded by Awarding of Recognition, Awarding of Participants, and Closing Remarks by Jermen Niel Calub - TSU-FRCYC President, “This training and lecture make you not just a bystander, but a proud individual with your skills, knowledge, and willingness to help people that in need without a second thought” he said.

Safety first, enjoy the game! As we gather to support our teams during this exciting day of intramurals, let's prioritize our well-being and the safety of those around us. 🏅✨

Choose your seating wisely, sit in designated areas to ensure safety and respect personal space for those around you. Don’t forget to hydrate and cheer positively for your teams while promoting good sportsmanship.
