A gas station attendant in Zamboanga recently caught the attention of thousands online after a video of him explaining rising fuel prices went viral.

The clip, posted by RMN Zamboanga, shows a motorist asking a simple question: “Why is gasoline getting expensive again?” Instead of giving a short or generic answer, the attendant calmly explained the issue in detail. He talked about global crude oil prices, geopolitical factors, and how the foreign exchange rate affects petroleum prices in the Philippines.

What surprised many viewers is that the man behind the explanation is not just a regular pump attendant.

His name is Alkindar “Khinz” J. Amil, and he graduated Cum Laude from Mindanao State University – Sulu in 2016.

Before that, he was also among the top students in school, ranking Top 7 in elementary at Tanjung Elementary School and Top 7 again in high school at Jolo School of Fisheries.

His knowledge and confidence in explaining complex topics clearly showed in the viral video.

Some people online have also pointed out that he may not simply be a pump attendant, with some saying he is currently working as a supervisor at the station.

Alkindar’s story reminds many people that intelligence and education are not always tied to someone’s job title. Sometimes, the most insightful voices come from people quietly doing everyday work.

And in his case, that place just happened to be a gas station.

Organized by the Sapang Maragul Integrated School – Junior High Department (SMIS-JHD), the event gathered Grade 7 to Grade 10 students who performed dramatizations of well-known works in Philippine literature in line with the K to 10 Revised Curriculum Guide and Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs).

Each grade level presented a theatrical adaptation of a literary classic studied in their Filipino classes. Grade 7 students performed Ibong Adarna, while Grade 8 staged Florante at Laura. Meanwhile, Grade 9 dramatized Noli Me Tangere and Grade 10 brought to the stage El Filibusterismo.

The festival aimed to deepen students’ appreciation of Philippine literary heritage while developing their skills in acting, interpretation, and stage production.

The activity was spearheaded by Filipino teachers Kathleen S. Quintos and Roselyn A. Sabado, with assistance from all junior high school teachers and practice teachers who helped supervise rehearsals and stage preparations.

In an interview, Mam Roselyn Sabado expressed her pride in the students’ performances:

"𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. Performances were evaluated using a rubric that measured expression of feelings and emotions, clarity of delivery, acting skills, scene ex*****on, unity or cultural representation, and props and costume.

Special recognitions for outstanding performers—including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Director, will be announced on March 16, 2026.

Through the drama festival, SMIS continues to promote literary appreciation and creative expression among students, transforming classroom lessons into meaningful performances on stage.
