𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝟑𝟖𝟑 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟑𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐒𝐔 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬

College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) celebrated the graduation of Batch 2026 during the 37th Commencement Exercises of Tarlac State University (TSU), held at the Main Campus Gymnasium, on July 29.

In the presence of Commissioner on Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and former TSU President Hon. Myrna Q. Mallari who delivered a convocation, the ceremony honored a total of 383 graduates from CASS, contributing to the overall 650 graduates recognized alongside the College of Business and Accountancy.

With 77 graduates from the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies, 142 from the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and 164 from the Bachelor of Arts in Communication, the rites marked the culmination of the college journey of CASS batch 2026.

The college once again demonstrated academic excellence as both the Valedictorian, Jael Tabanao, and the Salutatorian, Christine Tiamzon both Magna Cum Laude awardees, hailed from the Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

In her speech, Class Valedictorian Tabanao reflected on her humble beginnings.

“As far as I knew, everything I brought to school was exactly as it should be until a classmate came up to me and asked, ‘Bakit ganyan ang lalagyan ng tubig mo?’ My first instinct was to glance at my drinking bottle, it was a reused C2 bottle,” she recalled.

Meanwhile, former CASS Governor Clarise Ann Dacanay also took the spotlight, alongside former The Work Editor-in-Chief Kleyn Abigail Fernandez, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Additionally, joining the graduates were former COESSE President Alexandra Santiago and former Linguistic Society President Philip Lara.

Furthermore, The Oracle alumni also took center stage as former Associate Editor-in-Chief Jayane Leslie Feliciano graduated Magna Cum Laude and ranked first among the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology graduates, while former Managing Editor Leean Margarette Magat and former Art Director Nikka Joy Gutierrez both earned their degrees with Cum Laude honors.

To close the ceremony, the valedictorian reflected on the value of humility and unity, saying, “If I were to rewrite the song we once sang as children, I would change just one word ‘We have learning to do, what is best, be someone special with all the rest,’ because true greatness is never found in standing above others, but in standing with them.”

The commencement rites recognized the graduates' academic achievements and their courage in pursuing and overcoming the challenges, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their personal and professional journeys.

𝙉𝙀𝙒𝙎 | 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐈𝐕 𝐀𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication program of Tarlac State University earned its Level IV re-accredited status from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP), Inc. during the awarding ceremony held yesterday, July 21, at the Theater Room, Smith Hall.

The program underwent evaluation in five key areas: research, performance of graduates, community service, internal linkages and consortia, and planning process.

Following the assessment, the Communication program earned an overall mean score of 4.60.

Among the evaluation areas, research, performance of graduates, and community service each received a score of 4.50. Internal linkages and consortia earned 4.70, while planning process recorded the highest rating at 4.80.

The re-accreditation followed the AACCUP survey visit conducted from March 4 to 6 after months of preparation by the Department of Communication, including the consolidation of documents, validation of outcomes, and compliance with accreditation standards.

"On behalf of the department, we are grateful for the successful attainment of our Level IV accreditation. It was not an easy journey, as it required extensive preparation of documents and the collective effort of our faculty members, staff, and students," said Communication Department Head Asst. Prof. Maria Fermina Joyce Nucum.

Nucum added that the recognition reflects the department's commitment to sustaining quality and inclusive education to students.

Also retaining its Level IV Re-accredited Status was the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management program under the College of Business and Accountancy.

Meanwhile, University President Dr. Jasper Jay F. Mendoza said the recognition affirms the university's unwavering commitment to delivering quality education and continuously enhancing its academic programs.

The Level IV re-accredited status granted to both programs is valid from March 16, 2026, to March 15, 2031.

As we welcome a new academic year, the College of Arts and Social Sciences Student Council would like to present the official college uniform and remind all CASSmates of the uniform policies to be observed throughout the semester.

The prescribed uniform serves as a symbol of professionalism, unity, and pride as members of the College of Arts and Social Sciences. We encourage every student to wear it with dignity and represent our college with excellence.

A 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 from the start of classes will be observed to allow students sufficient time to prepare and secure their prescribed uniforms. After the grace period, all higher-year students are expected to wear the official college uniform during designated uniform days.

🌊 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧
A 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 will be granted to all first-year students to provide ample time for the purchase and preparation of their official uniforms. Once the grace period concludes, freshmen are likewise expected to comply with the prescribed uniform policy.

Hair color is permitted, provided that it maintains a clean, neat, and professional appearance appropriate for the academic environment. The official CASS uniform shown below shall be the standard attire during prescribed uniform days. Students are expected to wear their uniforms properly, neatly, and respectfully at all times.

The College of Arts and Social Sciences Student Council appreciates everyone’s cooperation in fostering a community that values discipline, professionalism, and unity. Let us continue to wear our CASS identity with pride as we sail through another meaningful academic year.
