🌧️ When the Rain Pours, Let Learning Soar:
Tips for Learning Despite Suspensions

📚 1. “Rainy Day Challenge Board”
• Read a chapter of your favorite book 📖
• Write a short story about a rainy adventure ✍️
• Solve 3 math riddles or logic puzzles 🧠
• Interview a family member about their school life 🎤

🧠 2. “Brain Break Bites”
• Suggest 10–15 minute mini tasks:
• Watch a short educational YouTube video
• Try a brain teaser or word of the day
• Draw your dream classroom
• Make flashcards using recycled paper

🎥 3. “Learn from Home TV”
• Recommend educational shows they can watch on TV or YouTube.
• Encourage them to take notes or draw something they learned after watching.

📝 4. “Storm Journaling”
• Ask learners to keep a weather week journal:
• “What did you do today?”
• “What did the sky look like?”
• “How did you feel?”
• “What did you learn even without school?”

📷 5. “Photo Learning Hunt”
• Let students take pictures (if safe) of:
• Different cloud types ☁️
• Flood precautions they see in their area 🚧
• Acts of kindness during the storm 🫶
• Use photos later for storytelling, writing, or class discussion.

• Send short motivational audio, video, or text messages to your learners via group chat or class page. Just hearing their teacher’s voice/message reminds them that learning still matters—even at home.

🎮 7. “Educational Game Time”
• Recommend mobile or offline games that sharpen thinking:
• Wordscapes, Math Bingo, puzzle apps
• Board games with family (Scrabble, chess, snakes & ladders)

👨‍👩‍👧 8. “Learning with Family”
• Suggest simple activities they can do with parents or siblings:
• Cooking (measuring ingredients = math)
• Telling family stories (language & history)
• Sorting clothes or groceries (categorization & organization)

💡 9. “Rainy Day Research”
• Give optional “mini-research” prompts:
• “Why do typhoons happen in the Philippines?”
• “What to pack in a go-bag?”
• “How do plants survive in storms?”

🎨 10. “Express Through Art”
• Encourage drawing, painting, crafting, or even composing a song/poem about their experience during the storm.
