ATM: The UPM SHS Tarlac Gender and Development Committee is currently conducting the "Know Your Status" HIV Seminar and Testing together with the Kanlahi Community Center at the Bulwagang Gobernador, Tarlac Provincial Capitol.
This student-initiated activity is spearheaded by the Gender Focal Persons of the Local Batch Governance and the Student Institutions - UP Manila School of Health Sciences Tarlac Student Council, Medikritiko and the UP Manila School of Health Sciences Tarlac Electoral Board.
This is endorsed by the UPManila School of Health Sciences Tarlac and supported by the Provincial Government of Tarlac.

As part of the UPM SHSci Tarlac Community's promotion of public health and development for all, there will be a HIV/AIDS Awareness and Testing Drive, tomorrow, 23 August 2025 at the Bulwagang Gobernador, Tarlac Provincial Capitol from 1pm to 4pm. It is spearheaded by the UPM SHS Tarlac Gender and Development Committee, initiated by Batch Local Governance and Student Institutions GAD Representatives. This is in partnership with the Kanlahi Community Center.
Members of the Campus Community, especially our students are highly encouraged to come. The Office of the Director has already released a memorandum encouraging the student body to participate and enjoining the members of the Faculty to support the activity as well.
Interested Tarlaquenos are also encouraged to join this activity as we promote information and understanding on HIV/AIDS and end stigma and discrimination for People Living with HIV.

Aquino's patriotism will always be remembered. His bravery and legacy will live on in every heart of Filipinos fighting for democracy.

Nawa’y patuloy na mamuhay sa ating kamalayan ang kahalagahan ng walang pag-iimbot na pag-aalay ng sarili sa bayan. Maging hamon nawa na higit pang palakasin ang ating mga tinig upang hindi na muling mawaglit ang kalayaang minsan nang ikinubli ng ganid at kasakiman.

IN PHOTOS | As part of the first day of the freshmen orientation, students were given a comprehensive tour of the campus facilities, accompanied by representatives from various student institutions. This tour offered the freshmen a firsthand look at the learning environment at SHS Tarlac. It underscored the institution’s dedication to creating a space that promotes both academic excellence and student growth.
The day’s activities concluded with an overview of the academic calendar, facilitated by Batch 5 Coordinator Mr. Joey Dela Cruz. During this session, he also addressed several student concerns and shared important information to help guide the freshmen as they begin their journey at SHS Tarlac.

LOOK | To kick off the afternoon session, the freshmen were given an informative introduction to the alliances of student councils across the University of the Philippines. These included the Malayang Katipunan ng mga Sangguniang Mag-aaral sa UPM SHS (MAKASAMA), the Katipunan ng mga Sanggunian ng Mag-aaral sa UP (KASAMA sa UP), and the UP Manila University Student Council (USC), the highest student representing body of UP Manila, introduced by USC Chairperson Nuraini Nordin.
MAKASAMA, the highest policy-making body of the alliance of UPM SHS student councils, was presented to the freshmen by its Officer-in-Charge, MAKASAMA Commissioner and SHS Palo Chairperson Mr. Cedrick Sabulao. This was followed by a presentation from Ms. Mariton Manalili, the National Chairperson of KASAMA sa UP, who introduced the first, broadest, and only system-wide alliance of student councils in UP through an audio-visual presentation.
Attending the orientation in person, USC Chairperson Nuraini Nordin also provided updates on the current state of the USC and its ongoing campaigns. She warmly welcomed the freshies and shared the council’s current initiatives, upcoming activities, and future plans.

LOOK | Welcoming fresh faces, spirited hearts, and tenacious dreams, a new batch of student midwives gather at their respective University of the Philippines Manila School of Health Sciences campuses for their unit-wide orientation, today, August 11.
UPM SHS Tarlac officially welcomes 27 dedicated Iskolar ng Pampamayanan who aspire to contribute effective, accessible and quality service to rural communities. As a new chapter of their life opens, their journey towards becoming excellent community-centered and impactful individuals emerges.
Headed by the UPM SHS Palo, new batches from all four extension campuses have participated in the oppurtunity to delve deep into the institution’s history, introduce the facilities, and noable aspects in their academic life such as the Return Service Agreement (RSA), which holds a crucial role to their stay in UPM SHS through an insightful orientation on-site and via Zoom meeting.

MGA LARAWAN | Ipinagdiwang noong ika-4 ng Agosto ang ikalawang Araw ng Pagkilala para sa ikalawang batch ng mga nagsipagtapos mula sa kursong Diploma in Midwifery ng UP Manila School of Health Sciences (SHS) Tarlac, na ginanap sa Diwa ng Tarlac. Ang makabuluhang seremonya ay may temang “LAKBAY: Ang Pagtatapos ng mga Lingkod ng Agham at Kalusugan – mga Bagong Bayaning Yayapos at Kakalinga sa Bayan.
Sinimulan ang programa sa isang prosesyunal na pinangunahan ng mga nagsipagtapos, kasunod ang mga kaguruan ng SHS Tarlac, mga kinatawan mula sa lokal na pamahalaan, at mga panauhing pandangal mula sa UP Manila. Kasunod nito, binigyang-daan ang pagpasok ng mga watawat na pinangunahan ng UP Rayadillo, na sinundan naman ng pag-awit ng Lupang Hinirang at Awit ng Tarlac.

The Indigenous Peoples Municipal Representative (IPMR) Honorable Ranny Casupanan of the Municipality of Floridablanca, Pampanga had a courtesy call with the UPManila School of Health Sciences Tarlac (UPM SHSci Tarlac) together with the community scholar nominees from their communities.
Tarlac Campus Director Dr. Catherine Swin-Santos and Baler Campus Founding Director Retired Prof. Julia Elisa Puertollano welcomed the delegation and discussed admission matters, campus life, and LGU and community partnerships over morning snacks.
The UPM SHSci Tarlac Campus is committed to the mission of empowering Indigenous Peoples' communities towards training future community health workers from the youth. This innovative community - LGU - academe partnerships is one of the hallmarks that exemplifies University of the Philippines Manila's role as the National Health Sciences Center and Public Service University.
