The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) covers the most socio-economically vulnerable families, many of whom have limited access to digital platforms, stable internet connectivity, or digital devices. Reaching 4Ps beneficiaries is critical because education is a key pathway out of intergenerational poverty.
This initiative brings together education and training opportunities through information sessions and career guidance activities. It aims to raise awareness of free higher education, tertiary education subsidies, and technical-vocational programs that empower families to pursue lifelong learning and ultimately break the cycle of poverty.
Collaboration among CHED-UniFAST, DepEd, and TESDA is strategic, as many 4Ps families already engage with schools and skills development centers. By maximizing existing community-based touchpoints, UniFAST can ensure that these programs reach even those who are digitally disconnected.
The education caravan for 4Ps beneficiaries has the following objectives:
Increase awareness of government-funded education programs under Republic Act No. 10931, also known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, and other related initiatives;
Gather 4Ps students and their families to orient them on available scholarships, subsidies, and skills training programs offered by CHED, DepEd, and TESDA;
Encourage student enrollment in higher education institutions (HEIs) and technical-vocational education and training (TVET) centers;
Strengthen collaboration among education agencies and HEIs in promoting equitable access to education and lifelong learning opportunities; and
Conduct career guidance activities to help students explore their interests, plan their educational tracks, and make informed career decisions.
Many Filipino families, particularly those in geographically disadvantaged and low-income provinces, remain unaware of the numerous national government programs and financial assistance initiatives designed to help students pursue higher education or skills training.
Ultimately, Project PEPA aims to bring these opportunities directly to communities, empowering senior high school students and their families to make informed choices about their educational pathwaysโwhether through college education, skills development, or vocational programs.
