Three students from Holy Nazarene Christian School, namely Rochelle P. Pangilinan, Sophia Jazzle S. Garcia, and Reymark B. Aricayos, brought pride to their school after winning bronze medals in the recent Secondary Billiards Tournament in Tanza Lower Meet 2025 last September 8-9, 2025. This marked the school’s first-ever participation in the event, making the achievement even more meaningful.
The students showed impressive skill and determination throughout the matches, going head-to-head with more experienced players from other schools. Their teamwork, focus, and perseverance led them to secure third place and earn bronze medals.
Teachers and school officials expressed their joy at the outcome. “This is a historic milestone for our school. To join for the first time and already win medals is a remarkable achievement,” said coach John Erick M. Banta.
The victory not only highlights the talent of the students but also opens the door for the school to continue participating in future billiards competitions.

A remarkable achievement was recorded at the recent Secondary Chess Tournament last September 8-9, 2025, in Tanza Lower Meet 2025, when a dedicated Grade 9 student, namely Leonardo III G. Belen, secured the gold medal in Board 2. The event brought together strong competitors from different schools, both public and private, making the victory even more impressive.
Throughout the rounds, Leo displayed excellent strategies, patience, and sharp decision-making skills. His consistent performance led him to the top spot in their board category, earning the gold medal.
Teachers, coaches, and classmates expressed their pride in this success. “Winning gold in Board 2 shows not only talent but also hard work and perseverance,” said by coach Sir Daniel R. Mercado Jr.
This victory serves as motivation for fellow chess players, especially their team, namely HNCS Chess Conquerors, to pursue their passions with the same determination, and it highlights the growing interest in chess within their school.

David T. Carvajal, a G11 student and a young chess player, brought pride to his school after winning a silver medal at a recent Secondary Chess Tournament as Board 1 last September 8-9, 2025, in Tanza Lower Meet 2025. The competition gathered talented players from various schools, both public and private, in the municipality of Tanza, Cavite.
Despite facing tough opponents, the player demonstrated strong strategy and focus throughout his matches. After several intense rounds, they secured second place overall, earning a silver medal.
Coaches and teammates of HNCS Chess Conquerors praised the achievement, noting the dedication and hours of practice that led to this success. “We’re very proud of this result. It shows discipline and determination,” said by coach Sir Daniel R. Mercado Jr.
The silver medal represents a major turning point in the player’s chess journey, inspiring peers and younger students to take an interest in the game, and he will continue his next-level tournament at NCSU on November 6-8, 2025.
