Raising the Flag, Raising Aspirations: ASHI Opens School Year with Hope and Purpose

The beginning of a new school year is more than just a return to classrooms—it is a renewed opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue dreams. At the Amaya School of Home Industries (ASHI) Senior High School, this spirit of optimism and determination filled the campus as approximately 600 Grade 12 learners gathered for the school's opening flag ceremony, officially marking the start of School Year 2026–2027.
As students assembled on the school grounds, excitement and anticipation could be felt throughout the campus. For many learners, the ceremony symbolized not only the beginning of another academic year but also the start of an important chapter that would bring them closer to graduation and their future careers.
Leading the opening program were School Principal IV, Mrs. Norielyn C. Narciso, and Assistant School Principal II, Mr. Joseph G. Labuguen, together with the dedicated faculty members of the Senior High School Department. Their presence reflected the school's commitment to providing quality education while ensuring that every learner receives the guidance and support needed to succeed.
In his message to the students, Mr. Labuguen emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility, and proper conduct. Recognizing that Senior High School students are approaching adulthood, he encouraged them to demonstrate maturity in their actions and decisions. He reminded learners that discipline serves as a foundation for both academic success and personal growth.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Narciso inspired the students to remain focused on their studies and to pursue excellence in all their endeavors. She encouraged them to make the most of every learning opportunity and to cultivate the perseverance and determination necessary to achieve their goals. Her message underscored the belief that education remains one of the most powerful tools for building a brighter future.
The ceremony also highlighted the school's efforts to strengthen student support services. Mr. Labuguen introduced Mrs. Evangeline Mercado as the school's Guidance Advocate, assuring students that they have a trusted person to turn to whenever they need guidance, counseling, or assistance in addressing personal and behavioral concerns.
In addition, Mr. Adonis Mhel Pasco, adviser of Grade 12 Aguinaldo, was introduced as the faculty member responsible for overseeing student affairs and coordinating programs that promote student development, leadership, and engagement.
The successful conduct of the ceremony was made possible through the leadership of Byron Sean Kaori Centino, President of the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), whose commitment to student leadership contributed to the orderly and meaningful opening program.
As the Philippine flag waved proudly above the gathering and students pledged their commitment to another year of learning, the ceremony served as a reminder that education is a shared journey—one guided by discipline, strengthened by support, and inspired by dreams.

In a meaningful demonstration of solidarity and shared commitment to education, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School (OLHRS), a private educational institution, donated armchairs to the Amaya School of Home Industries (ASHI) to help address the growing need for classroom furniture and provide learners with a more conducive learning environment.

The donation was made under the leadership of the OLHRS administration and was represented by Ms. Sheran C. Timpoc, Vice Principal for Advancement and Development.
The armchairs will be utilized by ASHI students, many of whom will directly benefit from having comfortable and adequate seating during their daily classes.
Public schools across the country continue to face challenges in meeting the increasing demand for educational resources due to growing student populations. Among these challenges is the shortage of classroom furniture, which can affect learners' comfort, concentration, and overall learning experience.
Through this generous initiative, OLHRS has helped ease a pressing need while demonstrating the power of collaboration in education.
The donation serves as a testament to the importance of public-private partnerships in strengthening the educational sector. When private institutions and public schools work together, they create opportunities to bridge resource gaps and ensure that learners receive the support they need to succeed academically.
Beyond the armchairs themselves, the gesture symbolizes a shared vision of providing quality education for every child. It reflects the spirit of social responsibility and bayanihan, where communities come together to support the development of future generations.
The Amaya School of Home Industries expressed its sincere gratitude to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School for its generosity and unwavering support. Such partnerships inspire hope and reinforce the belief that education becomes stronger when stakeholders unite toward a common goal.

From Emergency Response to Community Service: BFP Tanza Serves ASHI

As preparations for the opening of classes continue, the spirit of volunteerism and community cooperation remained strong at Amaya School of Home Industries (ASHI) through the continued support of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Tanza, Cavite.
Demonstrating their commitment not only to fire safety but also to community service, BFP Tanza personnel led by Fire Officer 1 Gilbert Gabriel, together with fire aides and dedicated volunteers, actively participated in the school's Brigada Eskwela activities. Their efforts focused on the pruning of overgrown trees and the flushing of school grounds to help create a safer, cleaner, and more conducive learning environment for learners.
The activity reflects the true essence of Brigada Eskwela, the Department of Education’s annual initiative that promotes the Filipino value of bayanihan by encouraging stakeholders, government agencies, private organizations, and community members to work hand in hand in preparing schools for the new academic year. More than a maintenance program, Brigada Eskwela serves as a reminder that education is a shared responsibility and that every contribution, regardless of size, helps ensure the welfare and success of learners.
One of the major tasks undertaken by the BFP team was the pruning of trees within the school grounds. Tree pruning plays a vital role in campus safety as it helps remove weak, damaged, or overgrown branches that may pose risks during strong winds and heavy rains. Regular maintenance of trees also promotes healthy growth, improves visibility, and prevents potential accidents that could endanger students, teachers, and visitors.
Meanwhile, the flushing and cleaning of school grounds contributed significantly to maintaining a healthy and sanitary environment. The removal of dirt, debris, and stagnant water helps prevent the spread of diseases and reduces breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other pests. Clean surroundings also create a welcoming atmosphere that supports learning and fosters a sense of pride among students and school personnel.
The continued partnership between BFP Tanza and ASHI highlights the importance of collaboration in building safe and resilient schools. Through their selfless service and dedication, the firefighters and volunteers exemplified the values of civic responsibility, teamwork, and compassion.
As ASHI prepares to welcome learners for another school year, the school extends its heartfelt gratitude to BFP Tanza, Fire Officer 1 Gilbert Gabriel, the fire aides, and volunteers for their invaluable support. Their contribution serves as an inspiring example of how collective action can help create a safer, cleaner, and more nurturing educational environment for all.
