HISTORY OF BUKAY PAIT NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
It was in the year 1970 when the barangay high school in Bukay Pait, Tantangan, South Cotabato came into existence. Perceived for several years before the idea was brought to realization by the prime movers Ceferino P. Ignacio the then PTA President of Bukay Pait Elementary School and Barangay Captain Francisco Acosta. The barangay school started its ope
ration on June l970 on the elementary campus headed by the elementary school principal Mr. Unfortunately, the high school lasted only for two school years. It was forced to close due to meager support from the local officials and a lack of allocation budget for teachers’ salaries from the national government. For more than thirty years thereafter, the Barangay Council of Bukay Pait together with Mrs. Daisy I. Darroca, Teacher-In-Charge of Bukay Pait Elementary School initiated the reopening of a high school. The formal opening for the TANTANGAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL – BUKAY PAIT CAMPUS was done on June 17, 2002, at its approximately 2.0-hectare land area at Bukay Pait, Tantangan, South Cotabato with Mr. Renato M. Ignacio as the installed Officer-In-Charge by the then Schools Division Superintendent Cesar B. Three years soon after, Bukay Pait National High School was separated from its mother school on January 5, 2005. The separation was approved by Estrella Abid-Babano CESO III, the then DepED Regional Director thus, BUKAY PAIT NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL withstood independently. House Bill No. 5333 of the 12th Congress, House Bill No. 508 of the 13th Congress, and House Bill No. 721. of the 14th Congress were pushed by Congressman Arthur Y. Pingoy Jr. and was substituted by HB No. 5141 acted by the Philippine Congress on October 7, 2008. Fortunately, the Philippine Senate and the House of Representatives enacted the Republic Act 9818 for the Separation and Conversion of Tantangan National High School – Bukay Pait Campus into an independent Bukay Pait National High School. President Gloria M. Arroyo approved the R.A. 9818 on November 26, 2009. Under the dedicated leadership of Renato M. Ignacio, who served as the school principal from 2002 to 2014 and again from 2018 to 2019, the school has consistently produced batches of graduates since 2005. Notably, the institution was acknowledged by the DepED Regional Office XII as a TECHVOC School on May 28, 2010. Ignacio's tenure was marked by numerous achievements, including the successful separation of the school from its parent institution, Tantangan National High School, on November 26, 2009. Additionally, the school attained various accolades such as being crowned Kulitangtang Champion in the 2018-2019 school year and securing top positions in competitions like the Division Brigada Jingle and the Search for Best Organic Gulayan in 2019. Following Ignacio's leadership, Manolito G. Nama, Ed. D., assumed the role of school head from 2014 to 2016 and again from 2019 to 2021. Noteworthy accomplishments during Nama's tenure include achieving School-Based Management System Level III status and victories in events like the 2018 Kulitangtang Mass Demonstration. Alconde G. Torrejos led the school from 2016 to 2018, during which the institution excelled in activities such as the 2017 Kulitangtang Street Dancing competition. Raul M. Magbanua served as the school head from 2021 to 2023 and achieved notable successes like securing First Place in the 2022 District Quincentennial Celebration Quiz Bee. Currently, Magdalena R. Afon, Ph. D., holds the position of school head from 2023 to the present, and under her leadership, the school earned recognition for its partnership endeavors and emerged as the champion in the 2024 Kulitangtang Mass Demonstration. Furthermore, the School Alumni Association boasts a proud record, including the licensure of professional teachers, electrical engineers, a marine engineer, a registered nurse, and a registered criminologist.
