Villaba Elementary School reminds all learners, parents, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and other stakeholders to remain vigilant and take appropriate health and safety precautions following the Department of Education โ Schools Division of Tangub City Division Memorandum No. 312, s. 2026, dated September 4, 2026, regarding precautionary measures for schools during haze episodes.
The advisory is issued following the Department of HealthโCenter for Health Development Northern Mindanao (DOH-CHD-NM) Public Advisory dated September 2, 2026, which reported that haze is currently being monitored in parts of Northern Mindanao.
According to the advisory, the observed haze is associated with transboundary smoke from forest and land fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, which may be carried into the Philippines by the southwest monsoon (habagat).
Recent air-quality monitoring also indicated conditions ranging from Fair to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups in some monitoring stations in Northern Mindanao, with elevated air-quality levels recorded in Iligan City.

To help protect the health and safety of everyone in our school community, we encourage all concerned to observe the following:
๐น Stay informed. Monitor official weather and air-quality advisories from the DOH, DENR-EMB, PAGASA, and other authorized government agencies.
๐น Limit prolonged outdoor activities whenever haze levels are elevated. Particular caution should be observed during physical education classes, sports activities, assemblies, field activities, and other activities requiring extended outdoor exposure.
๐น Take appropriate protection when going outdoors. Learners and personnel who need to stay outside should follow recommended protective measures.
๐น Stay hydrated. Learners and personnel are encouraged to drink adequate amounts of water throughout the day.
๐น Protect your eyes. Avoid rubbing irritated eyes. When necessary, wash or flush the eyes with clean water or saline solution.
๐น Be alert for health symptoms. Individuals experiencing difficulty breathing, persistent coughing, eye irritation, or other concerning symptoms should immediately inform the appropriate school personnel and seek assistance from the school clinic or a health facility.
๐น Coordinate with health authorities when health guidance or assistance is necessary.
๐น Share reliable information. Let us help prevent misinformation by relying on official advisories from government health, environmental, and weather agencies.
