Tangub City Global College (TCGC), through its Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Program, continues to fulfill its mandate of developing disciplined, values-oriented, and service-ready youth as future leaders of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. In line with this commitment, the TCGC ROTC Unit successfully conducted its 5th Training Day for the 1st Semester, A.Y. 2026-2027 on 23 August 2026.

The activity was conducted under the leadership of MAJ JASON B TORINO (INF) PA, Commandant of the TCGC ROTC Unit, together with TSg Normelito A Lagamon (Inf) PA, Admin NCO, under the direct supervision of MAJ MARC ANTHONY S ACLO (CE) PA, Director, 903rd Community Defense Center.

The training commenced with the formation and physical inspection of the cadets, reinforcing military discipline, proper wear of the prescribed uniform, and overall operational readiness. This activity ensured that all cadets adhered to established military standards before the start of the day's training.

This was followed by classroom instruction on AFP Core Values, lectured by Sgt Rosendo Debalocos (Res) PA, and Military Leadership, lectured by Sgt Jielo Bacaling (Res) PA. The discussion on AFP Core Values focused on the importance of Honor, Loyalty, Duty, and Solidarity as guiding principles in the conduct and behavior of every member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The cadets were oriented on how these core values should be reflected in their actions, decisions, and interactions, both as military trainees and future members of the profession of arms. The instructor emphasized that upholding these values is essential in building trust, integrity, commitment, and unity within the organization.

The session on Military Leadership, meanwhile, centered on the fundamental principles and responsibilities of an effective military leader. The cadets were introduced to the importance of leadership by example, proper decision-making, effective communication, responsibility, accountability, and concern for the welfare and development of subordinates. The cadets were also encouraged to develop leadership qualities that would enable them to effectively perform their duties, work with others, and assume responsibility in various situations. To assess the cadets’ understanding and retention of the topics discussed, a short quiz was administered immediately after the classroom sessions. The activity provided the cadets with an opportunity to demonstrate their comprehension of the AFP Core Values and the fundamental concepts of Military Leadership.

Following the classroom instruction, the cadets proceeded to the field for the designation and organization of platoons. The activity provided the cadets with an initial opportunity to apply the leadership principles discussed during the classroom instruction through the establishment of platoon leadership and the assignment of responsibilities. It also promoted teamwork, communication, cooperation, and accountability among the cadets while establishing an organized chain of command for the succeeding practical exercises. Through this activity, the cadets were able to gain practical experience in working within a unit structure and recognizing the importance of leadership, discipline, and teamwork in accomplishing assigned tasks.
