‼️WHO, DOH TARGET 12M FILIPINOS TO BE SCREENED FOR TB BY 2026; PHILIPPINES AIMS TO DOUBLE BUDGET FOR TB SERVICES‼️

DOH is intensifying TB elimination efforts under President Marcos Jr.'s directive, with the new Philippine Strategic TB Elimination Plan (PhilSTEP2) and the Philippine Acceleration Action Plan for Tuberculosis PAAP-TB 2023–2035.

✅DOH plans to screen 12 million Filipinos nationwide by 2026.

✅DOH proposed 2026 budget for TB program is ₱4.2 Billion to accelerate service delivery.

✅ Prevention is strengthened through the roll-out of shorter Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT) regimens and contact investigation resulting in more than 50% increase in TPT enrollment in 2024.

✅TPT expansion to cover contacts of drug-resistant TB cases and is now under advanced programmatic implementation.

✅Literacy on prevention and treatment is also boosted with community campaigns like TPTodo.

BREAKING: ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY CONFIRMS FIRST CASE OF MONKEYPOX (MPOX) ⚠️🦠

The Provincial Health Office of Zamboanga Sibugay confirms its FIRST CASE of Monkeypox (Mpox) in the province today, May 24, 2025.

Patient is a 3-year-old female, resident of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, who is currently recovering at Dr. George T. Hofer Medical Center (DGTHMC). The patient was first seen at the Tungawan Rural Health Office on May 5, 2025, during which, blood sample was collected and sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for confirmatory testing.

Both the patient and her immediate family were placed under home quarantine since May 5 and contact tracing was immediately undertaken to prevent further spread of the disease. All individuals identified as close contacts are being notified and monitored under national health protocols.
