The Kalinawan participates in the 2024 DSPC

The Kalinawan -- English publication of Marciana P. Catolos National High School (MPCNHS) participated and has shown excellence in the 2024 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) with the theme "The Excellence, Intelligence, and Skill of Patriotic Youth in the Spirit of a Steadfast Aspiration" held at Binangonan Elementary School last October 2-3, & 11, 2024.

After the two-day competition, Marcians were able to get places in the top 10— Zhaira B. Jesuitas bagged the 10th place in Feature Writing Category likewise, Mechaella Joy O. Catampatan earned the 10th place in Editorial Writing Category.

“It was overwhelming. I was so happy that I got in, but at the same time I was nervous. I wasn't expecting anything since I know that I will be fighting against a lot of other students and all of them were already the best of the best,” Zhaira Jesuitas, Feature writer and DSPC qualifier.

Additionally, she said that even though she knows what she will go through and has no expectations at all, she still did her very best and managed to give everyone a good fight.

On the other hand, Deoj Beyonce T. Estefanio showed distinction and expertise with photojournalism as she thrived however, failing to get in the top 10.

The Kalinawan journalists extend their gratitude to their SPA, Ms. Hermiel Anne Seloterio who was their support system and adviser as they made their way towards success.

The SPC is composed of 10 categories wherein the Kalinawan school paper adviser, Ms. Hermiel Anne Seloterio, invited multiple resource speakers who have the mastery of certain categories in the field of journalism to conduct a lecture session for the SPC.

The resource speakers include Ms. Hilda Gillian S. Ranis who carry on the lecture for Feature Writing, Mr. Kent Mike San Juan for Sports Writing, Mr. Israel M. Anzaldo for News Writing and Photojournalism, Ms. Stephanie S. Vidanes for Science Writing, Ms. Chellita C. JUST IN | Suzuki Burgman Street Elite Riders Club PH Extends Their Hand to Those Families in Need

Burgman Elite Muntiparlas Chapter offers a hand to those in need by giving relief packs to the students of Marciana P. Catolos National High School at the school's covered court today, September 8, 2024.

They offered help to those people who are affected by the Typhoon Enteng to temporarily support their primary needs with simple gifts aside from the food packs, they also gave clothes and toys for the kids and kids at heart — one of the ways of the said organization to celebrate Christmas season as early as now.

“Unang una, ako'y nagpapasalamat sa Diyos, sa mga taong naging instrumento sa pagbibigay ng pansamantalang tulong sa mga pamilyang nasalanta ng bagyo. Maraming salamat po.” said by Mr. John-john Estefanio, one of the recipients.

“Maraming pangyayari sa buhay natin, and of course we have to give back with the community.” - Mr. Edgar Petines, the Adviser of SBSERCPH. He also mentioned how and why they chose Marciana. “Nung nag start ang ulan ang first thinking namin ay kaysa mag happy happy, tumulong kami, so nag search ang president namin at ito ang nakita; meron din kaming contact person na si Sir Mark Anthony Casale, an AP teacher in MPCNHS."
