I SAINT ILDEFONSUS - Patroness of Tanay

Ildefonsus was born to a prominent Visigothic family in Toledo during the reign of Witteric. Civil wars racked the Visigothic kingdom during most of Ildefonsus' life. His uncle Eugenius, who later became Toledo's bishop, began educating the devout youth. Ildefonsus began his religious career circa A.D. 632 when Bishop Eladius of Toledo ordained him as a deacon. However, Ildefonse defied his family's plans for his clerical career by becoming a monk at the Agali monastery outside the city. While he was still a simple monk, he founded and endowed a monastery of nuns. [4] In 650 Ildefonsus was elected its abbot of Agali. In that capacity, he attended two synods of the Iberian church, the eighth and ninth Councils of Toledo. When his uncle Bishop Eugenius II died in 657, Ildefonsus was elected his successor as bishop of Toledo. King Recceswinth compelled him to accept the position, as Ildefonsus later complained to his protégé and successor, Bishop Quiricus of Barcelona.

The at Tanay Sampaloc Integrated National High School - Annex and Madilay-dilay Elementary School was successfully held on December 15. The contribution you made to the Alay Pasko 2023 and your support is much appreciated by the whole Ildefonsian Youth Ministry. May these gifts evoke Christ in people around us and help them experience the true meaning of Christmas.

I OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE - Celestial Patroness of the Philippines & Secondary Patroness of Tanay

Mary appeared to Juan Diego, who was an Aztec convert to Christianity, on December 9 and again on December 12, 1531. During her first apparition she requested that a shrine to her be built on the spot where she appeared, Tepeyac Hill. The bishop demanded a sign before he would approve construction of a church, however. Mary then appeared a second time to Juan Diego and ordered him to collect roses. In a second audience with the bishop, Juan Diego opened his cloak, letting dozens of roses fall to the floor and revealing the image of Mary imprinted on the inside of the cloak—the image that is now venerated in the Basilica of Guadalupe.

Our Lady of Guadalupe’s role in Mexican history is not limited to religious matters; she has played an important role in Mexican nationalism and identity. In 1810 Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla promoted her as the patroness of the revolt he led against the Spanish. The image of the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared on the rebels’ banners, and the rebels’ battle cry was “Long Live Our Lady of Guadalupe.” During a religious revival in Mexico in the late 19th century, preachers declared that the foundation of Mexico could be dated to the time of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, because she freed the people from idolatry and reconciled the Spanish and indigenous peoples in a common devotion. Emiliano Zapata’s peasant rebels carried the banner of Our Lady when they entered Mexico City in 1914, and, during the civil war in Mexico in 1926–29, the banners of the rebels bore her image. Her continuing significance as a religious and national symbol is attested by the hundreds of thousands of pilgrims who visit her shrine every year.

The Ildefonsian Youth Ministry of San Ildefonso College humbly joins together in commemoration of all the oppressed and abused individuals, as well as our needy brothers and sisters, who were persecuted for their faith.

Red Wednesday is a day of solidarity that serves to highlight the continued struggle against Christian persecution. The focus of the event this year is "Embracing Persecuted, Oppressed, and Needy Christians," according to the CBCP, and it will showcase the pastoral efforts that assist Christians from all backgrounds. We pray that this occasion will provide us a chance to show our love and support for our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted for their unwavering faith.

I SAINT CLEMENT

Clement of Rome was the third successor of Saint Peter, reigning as pope during the last decade of the first century. He’s known as one of the Church’s five “Apostolic Fathers,” those who provided a direct link between the Apostles and later generations of Church Fathers.

Clement’s First Epistle to the Corinthians was preserved and widely read in the early Church. This letter from the bishop of Rome to the Church in Corinth concerns a split that alienated a large number of the laity from the clergy. Deploring the unauthorized and unjustifiable division in the Corinthian community, Clement urged charity to heal the rift.

Procession & Ildefonsian Saint Look Alike I October 27

As a Catholic Institution, the Marian Procession was a perfect response to a crisis that, among other things; highlighted a deep lack of piety and fellowship in the Church and also a part of the Closing for the Month of the Holy Rosary. The Ildefonsian Saint Look Alike made a meaningful All Saint's Day to San Ildefonso College Students. The celebration is part of the school's advocacy to combat the halloween's practice of wearing horrifying costumes to scare others but to become a living saint in modern times.

I SAINT URSULA

She was a legendary Romano-British princess traditionally believed to have died as a Christian martyr together with 11,000 other virgins in Cologne, Germany around 383 C.E. At the request of her father, King Donaut of Cornwall, Ursula and her companions set sail to join her future husband, the pagan governor Conan Meriadoc, in Brittany. However, a miraculous storm prevented their arrival there, and Ursula declared that before her marriage she would undertake a pan-European pilgrimage. She came with her huge entourage of handmaidens to Rome, where she persuaded Pope "Cyriacus" (otherwise unknown) to join them. Eventually arriving at Cologne, they found the city besieged by the Huns. Ursula's friends were beheaded in a dreadful massacre, and the barbarian leader (also unknown) then shot Ursula dead with an arrow. Ursula and her fellow virgins were buried in Cologne, where the Church of St. Ursula is dedicated to her. She was widely venerated until the modern era.

The devotion to St. Ursula has began in Binangonan after her enthronement as parish patroness. Miracles have been attributed to the Virgin-Martyr, notably for saving Binangonan during calamities and armed conflict. The people of Binangonan enjoys the continues protection and patronage of their beloved princess for centuries and this was embedded to their lives. She is credited for the protection of Binangonan from several calamities, Wars, revolutions and other catastrophes that the town faced. In gratitude, they celebrate her feast day in a grand scale.

Prayer in honor of Saint Ursula:

O God, Who hast granted to the virgins worthily consecrated to Thee,
the courage to face, with Ursula as their leader,
a wonderful fight whereby through the palm of martyrdom
they reached the glory of Heavenly contemplation,
we beseech Thee grant that we may be aided
by the prayer of those who in this day after passing through the gates of death,
Thou has made to triumph in Heaven.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who liveth and reigneth with God the Father,
in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God,
world without end.
