The Research Office in collaboration with the academic heads of the Basic Education Department conducted a seminar entitled โIntensified SIP: Cultivating Culture of Inquiry towards Innovation,โ with the theme Unleashing Learnersโ Potential through Research Proficiency, June 1, 2026. The seminar aimed to equip educators with practical strategies and clear direction in strengthening the capacity of Middle School and Junior High School learners in writing Science Investigatory Project and Research Paper.
Dr. Carina Marave, BED Principal, in her opening remarks, shared the news about a Grade 5 pupil from Cebu International School that recently presented a proposed flood control project to their City Mayor, highlighting the challenge of empowering the inquisitive young minds to be problem solvers even in wide range scope.
The first three phases of the seminar, facilitated by the Research Director, focused on rationale of SIP embedded in DepEd Matatag Curriculum, the institutional research program and Association of Schools of Augustinian Sister (ASAS) Science Fair Program that progressed to the discussion of the ideation of project confining within to ISEF standard and the SIP framework with elaborated development of each part.
Dr. Digna Centeno, MS/JHS Science and Math Coordinator, discussed the comprehensive plan presented in SIP Progressive Matrix; Dr. Evangeline De La Pena shared the Research Skills Developmental Matrix stressing feasible approach for learners to fully grasp writing skills toward research proficiency.
The seminar output was collaboratively deliberated by the academic heads together with the Science and English faculty participants on how the program can be effectively executed in each level of the said department.

From May 18โ29, 2026, our Summer Sports Clinic brought together young athletes eager to learn, improve, and enjoy the spirit of sportsmanship. Through every training session, drill, and activity, participants showcased dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants for their commitment and energy throughout the program. A special thank you as well to our dedicated coaches for sharing their time, expertise, and passion in guiding our athletes every step of the way.
Thank you for making this year's Summer Sports Clinic a memorable and successful experience. We look forward to seeing you continue to grow, excel, and stay active both on and off the field. See you at our next sports program!

๐ง๐๐ก๐๐จ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ง๐ฌ, ๐๐๐ง๐๐ก๐๐๐ฆ โ La Consolacion College Tanauan and La Consolacion College Biรฑan successfully hosted the 1st International COIL Conference 2026 on June 2, 2026, at Bravo Tanauan Hotel, bringing together educators, academic leaders, and international partners to advance the practice of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) in Philippine higher education.
With the theme, โ๐๐ข๐๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐น๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด: ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐น๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐น ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป,โ the conference highlighted the importance of internationalization, cross-cultural collaboration, and global engagement in preparing students for an increasingly interconnected world.
The conference commenced with the registration of participants, followed by an opening prayer led by Ms. Rhea Permejo, Psychology Program Chair of LCC Biรฑan. The gathering was formally opened through the singing of the National Anthem and welcome remarks delivered by Sr. Diosie T. Tanca-ag, OSA, College President of LCC Tanauan.
Delivering the inspirational message, Sr. Joan Brigida Corazon S. Infante, OSA, ASOLC Vicar General/Councilor on Apostolate and ASAS Superintendent, reaffirmed the Augustinian educational philosophy that โthe heart of education is the education of the heart.โ She emphasized that as institutions pursue internationalization and global engagement, they must remain committed to forming students whose intellectual growth is matched by the development of character, compassion, and a genuine concern for others.
The conference's keynote address was delivered by Dr. Rogelio T. Galera Jr., Regional Director of CHED Region IV-A, who discussed the topic โAdvancing Internationalization through COIL in Philippine Higher Education.โ His presentation underscored the significance of collaborative online learning in strengthening international partnerships, enhancing intercultural competencies, and expanding learning opportunities for Filipino students and educators.
Following a cultural presentation showcasing local heritage and talents, the conference proceeded to its first plenary session. Dr. Christine Nabor Ferrer, Director of CHED-IAS, delivered a comprehensive discussion on โGlobal Perspectives on COIL: Building Sustainable International Academic Collaboration.โ Her presentation explored best practices and strategies for sustaining meaningful international academic partnerships in an increasingly digital educational landscape.
The morning session concluded with an open forum, allowing participants to engage directly with the speaker, followed by the awarding of certificates.
In the afternoon, Dr. Alona Cabrera, External Affairs and Linkages Director of LCC Tanauan and LCC Biรฑan, introduced the second plenary speaker, Dr. Polly Barr, Guest Lecturer from the University of Bristol. Dr. Barr shared valuable insights through her presentation, โCOIL from European Higher Education Perspectives,โ offering participants a broader understanding of how COIL initiatives are implemented across European institutions and how these practices can inform future collaborations with Philippine colleges and universities.
Another open forum and certificate awarding followed, providing attendees the opportunity to exchange ideas and reflect on the topics discussed.
One of the conference highlights was the Showcasing of Student Experiences in COIL, featuring selected student participants from LCC Tanauan and LCC Biรฑan. Through their testimonies, students shared how international virtual collaborations enriched their academic learning, cultural awareness, and communication skills, demonstrating the transformative impact of COIL on student development.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Sr. Eden L. Gicana, OSA, College President of LCC Biรฑan, who expressed gratitude to the speakers, participants, partner institutions, and organizing committees for their support in making the conference a success.
The successful conduct of the 1st International COIL Conference 2026 marked a significant milestone for LCC Tanauan and LCC Biรฑan as they continue to champion global learning initiatives and strengthen international academic partnerships. The conference reaffirmed both institutions' commitment to nurturing globally competent graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and intercultural understanding necessary to thrive in the 21st-century educational and professional landscape.
