As we wrap up National Family Month, we are so blessed to share this beautiful, heart-filled story from Daddy Nes and Mommy Hannah Dedel about their familyโs journey with their daughter, Samuelle:
"We are grateful for homeschooling. Not because we believe it is the only way to educate a child, but because for our family, it has been a beautiful privilege.
We get to be present during our daughterโs foundational yearsโto teach, guide, encourage, and walk alongside her as she discovers who she is and who God is calling her to become.
We are grateful because we get to choose learning resources based on her interests, abilities, pace, and what she is ready to learn. When she becomes curious about something, we can go deeper. When she needs more time, we can slow down. We can make learning fit her, instead of always asking her to fit into a system.
We also get to raise her with Godโs Word at the center of her education, teaching her not only what to know, but also how we want to live as a family.
One of the things we love most is that we get to learn together. Sometimes we are her teachers, sometimes her classmates, and sometimes we are learning something new right alongside her.
We are also grateful for the 'village' God has given us our A&Q homeschooling community, likeminded parent-teachers, families, and friends who walk with us in this journey. Homeschooling may happen at home, but it certainly doesn't happen alone.
We also appreciate the freedom to prepare her for the future in a meaningful way. We don't want education to be just about memorizing information that may eventually become outdated. We want to help her become curious, creative, adaptable, thoughtful, and grounded in faith.
And yes, there are the little things we are thankful for too:
๐ซ No rushing out the door before sunrise.
๐ซ No battling morning Manila traffic.
๐ซ No hurried breakfasts.

More flexibility with our time.
Some people ask, 'But what about socialization?' Honestly, that hasn't been a problem for us.
The flexibility of homeschooling allows our daughter to do other things she enjoysโdance, music, play, church activities, spending time with family & friends, and many other experiences where she can interact with different people.
We don't believe homeschooling means keeping our daughter in a bubble. Our goal isn't to protect her from the world. Our goal is to prepare her for it."
