“Talisay South Elementary School standing at the heart of the poblacion, is one of the major landmarks of the City of Talisay.” It is in the school, where historical Gabaldon Building, the first school of the Philippines American Friendship was built during the American Era in March 16, 1912. meters fronting the public plaza and it is near the church and the public market. I
t is the central school in the District of Talisay II offering a complete Elementary Education implementing a general curriculum program with 17 primary classes and 15 intermediate classes. It started with only one section for each grade level. As the years went on, more buildings like the Lizares type, Bagong Lipunan, Bliss Building and Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building were constructed to accommodate the increasing population. Sausi, District Supervisor of Talisay District II, when the school underwent a giant progress. Instrumental in this, were Atty. Antonio Jayobo, who was then the PTCA President of the school and the City Mayor Hon. Mario T. Lizares. Through their wisdom, good public relation and friendly persuasion, they were able to convince the Parish Priest to sell the lot fronting the school at a very low price. On the purchased lot now.stand the four buildings namely Decs Multi Purpose I, Food for Work, Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Bagong Lipunan going shelter to ten classes, a lunch counter and a single classroom designed as Home Economics Building at the same time serve as our computer lab. Last 2004, a SEMP Building was constructed through the effort of Hon. Jose Carlos Lacson through our district supervisor Mr. Alfonso B. Verdeflor. This building was utilized as the principal’s office. With the belief that great things come from small beginnings, various improvements were then made and different projects were adopted through the past and present principal’s assigned. Presently, there are ongoing projects in the school and it is still looking forward to more projects with the vision of a more improved school academically.
