│ Celebrating Mama Mary’s Birthday Through Prayer

Today, on the beautiful occasion of the birthday of our Blessed Mother, Mama Mary, teachers from the three Monterey School campuses gathered together in prayer to pray the Holy Rosary and offer our special intentions to her.

With each Mystery of the Rosary, a particular petition was lifted to our Blessed Mother, prayers for our young people and students, our parents and families, protection and safety, our entire school community, and all our personal and communal needs.

With humble and trusting hearts, we entrusted these intentions to Mama Mary, asking for her maternal guidance and intercession. We know that every prayer offered through Mary ultimately leads us closer to her most beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the source of our hope and salvation.

As we celebrate her birthday, may we continue to follow Mary's example of faith, humility, obedience, love, and complete trust in God. May she always lead our school community and our families closer to Jesus.

“Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”
— Luke 1:42

Happy Birthday, Mama Mary!
Pray for us and lead us always to your Son, Jesus.
Amen.

OFFICIAL MSI ADVISORY | END OF TERM 1 WELLNESS BREAK (FOR LEARNERS)

Dear MSI Family,

In consideration of the recent air-quality conditions and the adjustments already made to our school calendar, MSI will observe an End of Term 1 Wellness Break for learners on September 8, 10, and 11, 2026.

📅 September 8 – Wellness Break
📅 September 9 – Osmeña Day Holiday
📅 September 10 – Wellness Break
📅 September 11 – Wellness Break
🏫 September 14 – Return to School

This short break will give our learners time to rest, recover, and recharge after several days of changes in learning modality, while the School Administration makes the necessary adjustments to our academic calendar and upcoming MSI Days activities.

OFFICE OPERATIONS
MSI offices will continue operations during the Wellness Break, except on September 11, when offices will be closed. Please plan any school transactions accordingly.

Parents and learners are also reminded to regularly check their respective class Group Chats (GCs) for additional instructions, reminders, and schedule updates from their teachers and advisers.

We appreciate the continued patience, flexibility, and cooperation of our families as we balance learning continuity, school activities, and the well-being of our children.

For now, our MSI Lions deserve a little time to pause, recharge, and enjoy their End of Term 1 break.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, September 14, 2026.

MSI ADVISORY | CONTINUED ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES

Following the latest air quality update from the DENR–Environmental Management Bureau Region VII (EMB-7) and the advisory shared by Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas, Monterey School, Inc. will continue with ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES tomorrow, Monday, September 7, 2026.

The latest reported PM2.5 Air Quality Index (AQI) for Metro Cebu is 136, classified as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.” While this is a significant improvement from the dangerously high levels recorded over the past several days, air quality has not yet returned to Fair or Good levels.

Children remain among those advised to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor exposure.

For this reason, and in the continuing interest of the health and safety of our learners and personnel:

NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES
September 7, 2026
Classes will continue through ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING.

We understand that the continued disruption has required adjustments from our learners, parents, teachers, employees, and school operations. As this air-quality event develops, MSI is also using this period to strengthen our learning continuity arrangements and prepare for a longer-term alternative modality should conditions persist.

Our goal is to ensure that learning continues while avoiding unnecessary risks to the health of our children.

We ask our families to continue limiting unnecessary outdoor activities and to exercise added caution, particularly for children with asthma, respiratory conditions, allergies, or other health concerns.

MSI will continue to base its decisions on reliable, updated, and verifiable information from the appropriate authorities and will issue further advisories as conditions change.

We thank our MSI Family for your continued patience, flexibility, and cooperation.

Conditions may change, but our responsibility remains the same: protect our children while keeping learning moving forward.

OFFICIAL MSI ADVISORY | SUSPENSION OF SATURDAY CLUB ACTIVITIES

Following the latest air quality update from the DENR–Environmental Management Bureau Region VII (EMB-7), the MSI School Board and Administration have decided to SUSPEND ALL SATURDAY CLUB ACTIVITIES tomorrow, September 5, 2026.

This includes scheduled activities for:

🏀 Basketball
🏸 Badminton
⚜️ Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP)

Although Metro Cebu’s air quality has shown some improvement, the latest reported Air Quality Index remains within the “VERY UNHEALTHY” classification.

Given that our Saturday Clubs involve physical activity and, in some cases, prolonged exposure to outdoor conditions, the School Board believes that proceeding with these activities would create an unnecessary health risk for our learners, coaches, teachers, and personnel.

We understand the inconvenience brought about by the continuing changes to our school calendar. This haze has presented our community with an unusual situation that affects families, employees, school operations, and many of our scheduled activities.

However, when the health of our children is involved, MSI will continue to make decisions based on verified information, reliable data, and the most recent advisories from the proper authorities.

We therefore encourage our learners to use tomorrow as an additional day to stay indoors, rest, and minimize unnecessary exposure to the current air conditions. If going outside cannot be avoided, please wear an appropriate protective mask.

Thank you to our parents and families for your continued patience, understanding, and cooperation as we navigate this situation together.

Sometimes courage means pushing forward.
Sometimes, it means knowing when safety requires us to stop.

Take care of one another, MSI Family.

MSI ADVISORY | CONTINUED SHIFT TO ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES & TEMPORARY OFFICE CLOSURE

In the interest of the health and safety of the entire MSI Community, Monterey School, Inc. will continue with ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES tomorrow, Friday, September 4, 2026.

Based on the latest air quality update from the Environmental Management Bureau Region VII (EMB-7) and DENR Region VII, Metro Cebu recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 252, classified as ACUTELY UNHEALTHY. The monitoring station in Brgy. Cabitoonan, Toledo City likewise recorded an AQI of 227, under the same classification.

With current conditions showing continued unhealthy air quality, MSI believes that limiting unnecessary exposure remains the most prudent course of action for our learners, families, and personnel.

There will be NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES on September 4. Learning will continue through asynchronous activities, with teachers providing instructions and learning materials through established class communication channels.

All MSI offices will also be CLOSED for the day to help protect our teaching and non-teaching personnel from unnecessary exposure to the current air quality conditions. Regular office operations will resume once conditions permit and further advisories are issued.

We especially remind our learners and members of the MSI Community to remain indoors as much as possible and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities. If going outside cannot be avoided, please wear an appropriate face mask and minimize prolonged exposure to outdoor air.

Parents and guardians are likewise encouraged to exercise additional care, particularly for children with asthma, respiratory conditions, allergies, or other health concerns that may be aggravated by poor air quality.

The safety of our children and employees will always come first. MSI will continue monitoring official advisories and will provide updates as conditions develop.

For now, stay home, stay informed, and take care of one another, MSI Family.

PREPAREDNESS THROUGH CARE | MSI PRE-ELEMENTARY SAFETY DRILL

At MSI, preparing our youngest learners for safety also means protecting their sense of security, emotional well-being, and childhood experience.

For our Pre-Elementary Department, the safety exercise was intentionally conducted through an age-appropriate “hide-and-seek” activity—allowing our children to learn important response routines through play, movement, repetition, and positive reinforcement rather than fear.

Our teachers underwent proper orientation and preparation before the activity, with safeguards carefully observed throughout the exercise to ensure that procedures remained child-sensitive, developmentally appropriate, and supportive of our learners’ psychosocial well-being.

The result was a meaningful learning experience where our little MSI Lions could have fun while becoming familiar with important safety routines.

Because preparedness should never come at the expense of childhood.

At MSI, we continue to balance safety, learning, and care—equipping every child with age-appropriate skills today for greater readiness tomorrow.

Prepared with care. Protected with purpose.

MSI ADVISORY | SHIFT TO ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES

In consideration of the current air quality situation affecting Metro Cebu, and following the advisory of Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas regarding the suspension of face-to-face classes, Monterey School, Inc. will shift to ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES tomorrow, September 3, 2026.

According to DENR-EMB 7, air quality in Metro Cebu has reached the “Acutely Unhealthy” level. As the health and safety of our learners and personnel remain our priority, MSI has decided to temporarily limit their exposure to the current outdoor conditions.

Classes today, September 2, will continue as scheduled. There will be NO EARLY DISMISSAL.

Learners are encouraged to remain inside their classrooms and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities while on campus.

For tomorrow, September 3, there will be NO FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES. Learning will continue through asynchronous activities, with teachers providing the necessary instructions and learning materials through the established class communication channels.

We encourage all members of the MSI Community to:

• Stay indoors as much as possible;
• Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities;
• Wear an appropriate face mask when going outside; and
• Continue monitoring official school and government advisories.

MSI will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with the appropriate government and education authorities. Further announcements will be released should there be any changes.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Stay indoors. Stay informed. Stay safe, MSI Family.
