Today, April 9, 2026, the country commemorates "Araw ng Kagitingan" — otherwise called as the "Day of Valor." This carries deep admiration to the heroic gestures of those who chose to fight against the destructive Japanese forces during World War II. With the theme "Giting ng Bayani, Pamana ng Salinlahi", this encapsulates not just a mere reminder of the deeds of our valued Filipino heroes, but on how their courage and patriotism remain a lasting legacy for future generations.

As our forefathers brought their all to serve and protect the nation, we too can combat the current diseases caused by the greediness of the powerful ones. With the domino effect of corruption and incompetence, resiliency isn't enough; it is always timely to stand up and voice out the grievances of hunger, dismay, and increasing prices of commodities. Tiresome it is, but with the goal of having a safe-haven Philippines, kakayanin natin — take this learning from our adamant Bataan warriors.

As this semester's community extension, the 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐬 organized a Human Rights Awareness Seminar entitled "𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧" 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 7, 2026, at 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐤 𝐎𝐤𝐫𝐚, 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲, 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮. This was led by TCCI Officers and participated by the parents of Purok Okra.

Started at 10:00AM, distinguished speaker, 𝐌r𝐬. 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐒. 𝐉𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐳, shared her experiences in the said pursuit. It helps parents to be informed of their children's rights — why are they important, how they should be protected, and what are the implications if these rights are infringed by others. This 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬.

With this successful endeavor, the TCCI would like to commend the esteemed individuals for their support. An enormous recognition to Talisay City College heads, Hon. Edward S. Earlier this evening, at exactly 6:00PM, the 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, together with the 𝐓𝐂𝐂 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, organized an event to commemorate the 40𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗗𝗦𝗔 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 at TCC Grounds. Attended by 𝐓𝐂𝐂-𝐒𝐁𝐒 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲, 𝐁𝐒𝐄𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐁𝐀 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, and 𝐁𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐇 3- 𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐳𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐝, the endeavor highlighted the relevance and significance of the revolution in ensuring that love, justice, and freedom are cradled constantly.

The event started with an interfaith prayer and followed by the singing of "Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo" — a symbolic song that relives the journey of the Filipino people on their contribution to holding freedom, democracy, and human rights at their best. Moreover, various performances and representations were carried out: a vocal solo performance from a BSEd Social Studies 1 representative, spoken poetry from BSEd Social Studies 1 & 2 representatives, a group song number of BSEd Social Studies 3 — Addams, and a group chant led by BSEd Social Studies 3 - Betty. Afterward, simultaneous candle lighting and prayers for peace were carved, emphasizing that faith and true unity are the greatest weapons against injustices, oppressions, and divisiveness. The event commenced with the singing of a powerful song, "Di Niyo Ba Naririnig", that encourages every single citizen to stand up, voice out, and defeat the country's gloomy and perelious state.

With this, the People Power Revolution event isn't just a one-day celebration, its essence needs to be sensed and lived by all. It isn't just about reminiscing about what happened in the past, it is about continuing the lighting of hope, justice, democracy, and freedom that we have adored till this day. Thus, with the current state of the nation, "𝐧𝐚𝐰𝐚'𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐠, 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐦, 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐤𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚." Today, February 25, 2026, we commemorate one of the pivotal events of Philippine history, the 40𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It was a driving collective action to bring back freedom — through democracy —for all of us. This reminds us that when all are sincerely united, hampering injustices and oppression is possible.

However, the question is: "Did we actually learn?" The country has been facing enormous debacles due to corruption and divisiveness. With all the political factions and colors out there, are they really helping the country to progress and develop as a whole? Or, they're just adding a disease that continues to divide us all? Illustrados, ponder that 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 — 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟. It is about making sure that the country is inhabited with justice, peace, and progression for the common good. Hence, with the spirit of EDSA induced within us, we are always called to immensely light the flame of a diverse yet "𝐏𝐫𝐨-𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬" hearts and minds. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐤𝐚!

As our people rise, may his words, ideals, and peaceful actions continue to awaken our nation and guide us in standing for what is just.

Let his teaching and wisdom be engraved in the hearts of our young people and Filipino people as it strengthens our identity. May this serve as an eye-opener for younger generations to give importance of our National Heroes. To look back on our roots, we will always remember how we were mistreated back then. And thou shall not forget the sacrifices they've made.
