🦅 Forest to Factory: Grade 10 North Point Johnians Explore Local Eco-Site and Industry❣️

Learning came alive on August 14, 2026, as Grade 10 Acacia and Lauan students from St. John's Institute North Point stepped out of the classroom for an immersive educational trip organized by the Social Studies and Teachers.

The joint activity brought textbook concepts to life through real-world experience:

🦋 Environmental Stewardship: At Negros Forest Park, students got an up-close look at native wildlife conservation and eco-preservation, reinforcing key Social Studies lessons on sustainable development.

🇵🇭🇨🇳 Local Industry & Cultural Appreciation: Inside the Merzci Pasalubong Factory, students observed economic operations in action while using authentic, real-life interactions to strengthen their language skills and appreciate local enterprise.

📖 Experiential Impact: By seeing local conservation and commercial systems firsthand, students deepened their understanding of community growth, responsible citizenship, and lifelong learning.

Accompanied by Social Studies Teacher Ms. Shaina Bernabat, Chinese Teacher Laoshi Nellie Lee, Class Adviser Mr. Joshua Patricio, and Department Head Mr. Rey Jastia, the Johnians connected classroom lessons directly to local environment and industry.

🦅SJI North Point Staff, Security, General Services, and Preschool Teachers Step Up for Campus Safety with CPR and AED Training❣️

In a groundbreaking moment for the North Point Campus, General Services Personnel, Security, Levels 1 to 3 Subject Teachers, and Preschool Teachers gathered for hands-on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) instruction centered on the theme "Advancing Campus Safety for Holistic Johnian Development."

Participants gained hands-on experience using advanced CPR mannequins linked to a mobile app, which evaluated compression depth, recoil, and rate in real time to recreate authentic emergency response conditions.

Leading the event as Resource Speaker was Mr. Emmanuel Villanueva, an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor with APSA Inc. and a valued member of the Board of Trustees, who shared his time and life-saving expertise.

The workshop ended with an adrenaline-rush CPR Race, which showed ambulances on the screen moving toward the finish line with every correct CPR stroke performed.

🦅SJI North Point Joins Main Campus in Welcoming Chinese Consul and Attaché❣️

Consul Zhang Shuhao and Consular Attaché Jiang Zixin paid a visit to Filipino-Chinese schools in Bacolod and were warmly welcomed by BOT members, Main and North Point Campus administrators, teachers, and staff. The visit included a short campus tour and a welcome program.

The SJI community is truly honored to welcome such distinguished diplomats and looks forward to fostering deeper cultural ties and collaboration in the future.

🦅SJI North Point Marks Milestone with Inaugural Teacher CPR and AED Training❣️

In a historic first for the North Point Campus, Teachers actively participated in hands-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training themed “Advancing Campus Safety for Holistic Johnian Development.”

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor of APSA Inc. and Board of Trustees member Mr. Emmanuel Villanueva led the training as the Resource Speaker, providing invaluable service and expertise.

To create a realistic emergency scenario, the Teachers trained with high-tech CPR mannequins that sync with an app to provide real-time data on compression depth, chest recoil, and rate. These high-tech mannequins were generously donated by a member of SJI’s Board of Trustees.

Today’s session, hosted by Campus Service Officer Mr. Christopher Suarez, is only the beginning of a series of emergency response trainings for the SJI North Point community.

🦅 SJI North Point Honors Sacred Heart of Jesus in August First Friday Mass❣️

Rev. Fr. Anthony A. Morillo, OAR, Parish Priest of San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish, officiated the Mass. In his homily, he reflected on the crosses we bear and what it truly means to pick them up and follow Jesus Christ.

Although the Mass was celebrated in Filipino, it was especially meaningful for our Johnians as Fr. Anthony delighted the congregation by seamlessly weaving Mandarin throughout his message.

Prior to the Mass, Campus Minister Ms. Athena Rey Empestan conducted her third catechism session with our Johnians, focusing on the profile and coat of arms of the seventh Bishop of Bacolod, Most Rev. Louie Patalinghug Galbines, SThD, D.D., and how the faithful can actively support him.

A truly grace-filled beginning to our month of August.
