MANILA, Philippines โ April 28, 2026 โ Reaffirming the national commitment to fostering Filipino innovation, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conferred the prestigious Presidential Award under Republic Act No. 7459 to the "I-Count" team from the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Visayas during the 2026 National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) Awards. The ceremony was held today at the Presidentโs Hall in Malacaรฑan Palace.
The TUP Visayas team, representing the College of Automation and Control, who also won the IDEASPARKS Pitching Competition Season 2 last 2025, earned the highly coveted Sibol Award for Outstanding Student Creative Research for College. Together with their adviser Mr. Mark Winston Gabutero, the brilliant young minds behind the I-Count innovation are:

Spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology โ Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), the NICE Awards program is designed to strengthen the marketing, promotion, and continuous support for DOST-generated technologies and homegrown inventions.
The awards are deeply anchored in Republic Act (R.A.) No. 7459, also known as the Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines. ๐ค TUP VISAYAS ROBOTICS COMPETITION 2026
The Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Visayas Robotics Competition 2026 will be held on April 8, 2026 at the Activity Center, Ayala Malls CapitolโBacolod.
This exciting event is part of the TUP Visayas Technology Convention 2026 and is open to schools, universities, robotics teams, and all robotics enthusiasts.

Under the College of Automation and Control (COAC), our Instrumentation and Control Engineering students from the Technological University of the Philippines โ Visayas have successfully completed their Capstone Engineering Design Culminating Activity, proving once again the excellence of Tatak TUPV.
These future engineers addressed real-world industry challenges, applying their skills in:

PLC, SCADA & Industrial Systems
Control System Modeling & Simulation
From conceptualization the students showcased engineering competence, creativity, and problem-solving grounded in real industrial needs. Their capstone works embody the COAC spiritโAutomation in Motion, guided by strong fundamentals and practical engineering design.
This culminating activity is a testament to COACโs mission of producing industry-ready engineers who can design, control, and automate the systems that move industries forward.
