Schola Christi Health Bulletin | Rabies Awareness 🐾💚
Rabies is a serious but preventable viral disease that can spread to people through the bite or scratch of an infected animal, most commonly dogs. Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal, which is why immediate action after a possible exposure is very important.
Let’s help keep our school and community safe by avoiding contact with stray or unfamiliar animals, teaching children not to tease or approach animals while they are eating, sleeping, or caring for their young, and making sure pets receive regular rabies vaccinations. If you are bitten or scratched by an animal, wash the wound immediately with soap and running water and seek medical care as soon as possible for proper assessment and post-exposure treatment.
Together, we can prevent rabies, protect our loved ones and pets, and keep our community safe!
