Tuason Elementary School was formerly known as Odell Elementary School. The name was taken in honor of the Tuason Family who was the donor of the school site. Ignacio Xavier is one of the sons of the late Jose Tuason Jr. By the virtue of Resolution No. 588 Confirming City Ordinance No. 566, s-2012 of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagum City, Davao del Norte, an ordinance renaming Odell Elementary
School as Ignacio Xavier A. Tuason Elementary School was duly attested by Vice-Governor Victorio R. Suaybaguio Jr., MPA and was approved by Governor Rodolfo del Rosario on September 28, 2012. Way back to its old name, Odell Elementary School was founded in 1965 or 49 years ago. It has a total land area of 10, 000 square meters or one hectare. Different administrators were assigned in the school namely, Teodorico Velasco, Fe Delos Reyes, Justina A. Dinagay, Edgardo E. Apoya, Ernita B. Panen, Heide H. Villaruel, Jezedem Ampo, Merceline P. Guino-o, Joy Jade E. Relos, Merlyn M. Kabingue, Daniel S. Tababa, Francisca R. Padlan, Hermie L. Natad Evelyn P. Dayo. As of October 8, 2019, the school is manned by Rey Alvin R. Melendres, School Principal I with his 18 competent teachers. And with a school population of 429 school children. The school is safe from intruders because its location is inside the Hijo Resources Corporation Compound with 24/7 assigned security guards at the entrance. About 80% of the populations are Christians and the rest are Muslim pupils. It is one of the two schools of Barangay Madaum, City of Tagum. Its demographic location is flat conducive for Banana Plantation and it is bounded from Hijo River in the East, Banana Beach Resort in the south and in the west Kasilak Parish Church while in the north, Banana Plantation of Hijo Resources Corporation. Most of the parents are banana plantation workers and employees. Most of our school children are coming from Sitio Garinan of Barangay Madaum, Purok 7 of Lower Apokon, Purok 18 and 19 of Barangay Madaum.
