Laureta National High School Marks Indigenous Peoples Day 2025

Laureta National High School celebrated National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Day with cultural pride and unity on August 11, 2025, at 7:00 a.m. The event carried the local theme “Ating Pandayin ang Kinabukasan, Gabay ang Katutubong Karunungan at Karapatan” and the international theme “Indigenous Peoples and AI: Defending Rights, Shaping Futures.”

The program opened with welcome remarks from Ma’am Nikki Jade T. Agol, IPEd Coordinator, followed by an inspiring message from Angelica N. Cadagdagon, IPEd Club President, underscoring the importance of recognizing and protecting Indigenous heritage. One of the highlights was the Presentation of IP Attire per Tribe, with learners proudly representing their roots: Jhyreen Mapayo (Mandaya, G11), Asya M. Toredes (Mansaka, G10), Jayhan Bacsal (Kagan, G12), Cherry Aranjuez (Dibabawon, G7), and Michelle Anggoling (Taga-Kaulo, G10).

Adding depth to the event, Bia Angelita N. Bayo, IPMR of Brgy. San Miguel, delivered an Inspirational Message on embracing culture alongside progress, while the IP Cultural Dance per Tribe showcased the richness of Indigenous traditions through the rhythms of the gimba, agong, and kulintang. The celebration concluded with Closing and Words of Thanks from Dr. Jasmin M. Nesperos, EdD, School Principal IV, who praised the learners for their active participation and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to inclusivity and respect.

The event not only honored Indigenous communities but also strengthened learners’ understanding of their role in shaping the nation’s future, guided by the wisdom and rights of the Katutubo.
