With a celebration that unofficially starts as early as the first of September, Christmas is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year. Filipinos show their excitement and love for the holiday through a treasured tradition "Noche Buena", a special feast on Christmas Eve that celebrates unity, togetherness, and gratitude for the blessings.

However, the recent tragedies have subdued the holiday cheer. It left families struggling, and the joyous spirit has faltered under the weight of financial burdens.

The P500 noche buena budget suggested by Trade Secretary Roque deepened the sense of despair felt by the filipinos and has earned angry sentiments from across the country.

It makes everyone question just how detached the government is from reality. Are they truly blind from the hardships faced by ordinary Filipinos? Or are they just choosing to look away from them?

Instead of confronting the truth, Roque continued to defend her perceived reality, insisting that it was possible for a family of four to have a P500 noche buena meal.

But anyone who is grappling with everyday expenses knows that the said amount is already barely enough for regular meals, let alone for a special occasion.

This harsh reality exposes how the government ignores the ongoing economic challenges and the widening gap between rising costs of living and the stagnant salaries.

Reducing such a meaningful and cherished event into something like simply making ends meet means disregarding people's right to honor and enjoy special occasions.

As long as the government avoids the truth and fails to provide solutions, Filipinos will inevitably perceive their budgeting suggestions as insensitive and detached from the realities of people's everyday struggles.

This is the cost of being a Filipino; people will continue to pay a heavy price so long as the government falls short of even the most basic expectations.

Their determination and brilliant minds shone through as they took on complex topics, articulated strong arguments, and upheld the values of critical thinking and excellence in debate🎖.

Composed of 𝗜𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝘆𝗮𝗴, 𝗥𝗼𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮, 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮 𝗚𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗯𝘆 𝗧𝘆𝗿𝗮 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮, the team successfully completed 𝟮 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀— demonstrating teamwork, passion, and resilience🙌.
