The spirit of bayanihan shone brightly at Tagum National Trade School (TNTS) during Brigada Eskwela 2026, as parents, students, teachers, and industry partners worked hand in hand to prepare the school for the upcoming academic year. Among the partners who stood out was DITO Tagum City, whose active participation brought both connectivity and community engagement to the event.

DITO Tagum City set up a booth inside the TNTS campus, offering promotions that directly benefited the community. As their team proudly shared: “Naa mi diri sa trade school kay naa promotion among company sa DITO, ang promotion is 39 pesos sim then free data nga 5 days ug free unli-call.”

This initiative reflected their commitment to affordable communication and their purpose of serving the local community through accessible connectivity.

For TNTS students, having reliable data is more than convenience — it is a vital tool for education, especially with the school’s active participation in Khan Academy programs for Mathematics, Science, and English, where online access enables learners to practice, explore tutorials, and strengthen their skills beyond the classroom.

TNTS extends its heartfelt gratitude to DITO Tagum City for standing alongside the school in this annual tradition of unity and service. Their support symbolizes how private companies can make a meaningful impact in education, ensuring that students and families are not only prepared with facilities but also empowered with digital tools for communication and learning. In a field where discipline is tough, it is a privilege to have a taste of what remains unallowed. As Brigada Eskwela 2026 continues to unfold, policies in TNTS are somehow on a "break". BrewMaster, one of the booths present on the campus, shares their intention to offer a taste of something new to the students, even if only for a short period of time.

​According to one of their representatives, "Ang purpose namo nganong ang Trade School among gipili nga mag stand ug booth, kay first kay nakabalo man mi ba nga sa Trade kay bawal ang plastic, bawal basura ug mga ingon ani. So, as brigada man sad, mao ni among way para maka experience pud sila ug other nga choices." They expressed their willingness to bring joy to the campus by serving unique beverages.

​Thus, even in places like TNTS, where strict rules against plastic exist, somebody or someone may have the courage to do something out of the line. Lifting up the mood and freshening up the heat.

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐚 𝐄𝐬𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

Matagumpay na isinagawa ang Culmination Program ng Brigada Eskwela sa TNTS Gymnasium noong Hunyo 05, 2026. Ang programa ay naging hudyat ng pagtatapos ng sama‑samang pagkilos ng komunidad upang ihanda ang paaralan para sa bagong taon ng pag‑aaral. Sa bawat hakbang, muling ipinakita ng TNTS ang tunay na diwa ng bayanihan at malasakit sa kabataan.

Lubos ang pasasalamat ng paaralan sa LGU Tagum City, TNTS Alumni Association, TNTS Parent‑Teacher Association, RT One Alab Eagles Club, Noble Legacy Eagles Club, AA, F1KD & Socio Civic, at Toyota Tagum City para sa kanilang mga donasyon at serbisyo. Ang kanilang suporta ay nagbigay ng dagdag na lakas at kagamitan upang maging mas maayos at ligtas ang ating kapaligiran sa paaralan.

Pinupuri rin ang lahat ng magulang, g**o, mag‑aaral, industry partners, at volunteers na buong pusong naglaan ng oras, lakas, at tulong. Ang kanilang kontribusyon, maliit man o malaki, ay nagpatunay na ang tagumpay ng Brigada Eskwela ay nakasalalay sa pagkakaisa ng bawat isa. Ang mga donasyon at serbisyo ay naging tulay upang mas mapabuti ang pasilidad ng TNTS.

Habang tinatapos natin ang Brigada Eskwela ngayong taon, umaasa tayo na sa susunod ay mas marami pang industry partners, alumni, at volunteers ang makikibahagi. Ang ating mithiin ay mas mapalakas pa ang ugnayan ng paaralan at komunidad, upang patuloy na maitaguyod ang mas maliwanag na kinabukasan para sa mga kabataan ng TNTS.

Showcase the bayanihan spirit, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Provincial Statistical Office (PSA PSO) Davao del Norte proved that public service is more than numbers and records. In this year’s Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Tagum National Trade School (TNTS), the agency extended its helping hand through both volunteer work and donations, strengthening the school community.

They did not limit its contribution to manpower. Aside from joining the clean-up drive, the office also donated gardening tools to help maintain the school’s cleanliness and greenery. This thoughtful gesture ensures that the campus remains a safe and welcoming environment for students as they prepare for the new academic year.

Extend service beyond statistics, the PSA joined Brigada Eskwela to support schools directly and foster a nurturing environment where learners can thrive. Their purpose is rooted in community-building, showing that their mandate goes hand in hand with civic responsibility.

The team also finds the experience highly beneficial. Volunteering strengthens their relationship with stakeholders, promotes a culture of shared responsibility, and uplifts morale. ‎Brigada Eskwela isn’t only about repainting classrooms. At Tagum National Trade School, the Bureau of Fire Protection from Tagum City Central Fire Station showed up to support “Gulayan sa Paaralan” — the school’s vegetable garden project. Their mission that day wasn’t to put out fires, but to clear what was choking growth: thick grass, wild vines, and overgrown brush that covered the future garden plots. With boots, gloves, and bolo tools in hand, BFP personnel turned a jungle-like lot into soil ready for planting.

‎The Gulayan sa Paaralan program aims to teach students Agri-Crop production while providing fresh vegetables for the school feeding program. But weeks of rain left the area tangled in vines and cogon grass. BFP firefighters worked in teams to cut, pull, and haul debris under the morning sun. Within hours, rows that were invisible under the weeds became visible again. Their effort meant students could start planting pechay, eggplant, and okra on schedule instead of losing days to clearing work.

‎What stood out was how the firefighters worked. Before cutting, they checked the area for sharp objects, broken glass, and ant hills — the same hazard assessment they use on fire scenes. They also reminded TVL students to wear gloves and proper footwear. For TNTS students in the Agri-Crop track, watching professionals work with discipline and safety turned Gulayan prep into a real-world lesson: every job, whether fighting fire or farming, starts with planning and safety first.

‎SFO 1 Joseph T. Talaid of Tagum City Central Fire Station said, “Kung pwede i-separate ang dry leaves tas kung pwede dili lng jud mag daob sa eskwelahan for safety. Ky daghan nag cases among na respondehan ana sa mga balay-balay tas basin ang ekwelahan sad sunod. Dapat always accessable ang tubig or ang fire extinguisher sa eskwelahan aron in case of emergency naa dayun magamit."

‎By the end of the day, the cleared lot was no longer a problem area — it was potential. Soil was exposed, compost bins were set, and student planters were laid out. The BFP’s contribution proved that Gulayan sa Paaralan grows faster when the whole community digs in. More than vegetables, what was planted was a lesson: service means showing up where you’re needed, whether there’s smoke in the air or weeds in the soil.

‎Brigada Eskwela is built on “bayanihan” — everyone gives what they can. For most parents, that means paint, cleaning materials, or a few hours of labor. But for Allmar Otto, a father of a gr7 student from the TNTS community, “giving what you can” meant loading his personal grass cutter onto his tricycle at 6 AM. He showed up at Tagum National Trade School not just with his hands, but with the exact tool the school needed most: a working grass cutter for the overgrown field.

‎For weeks before opening, teachers struggled to clear the back area behind the TVL workshops. The school grass cutter had broken down, and rental costs were too high for the Brigada budget. Mr. Otto noticed it during the first day of preparations.

‎ Without being asked, he went home and came back the with his own equipment, plus extra nylon blades and fuel. “Double purpose ni siya, kay at least dili ma stand by ug ma daut ang engine tas pwede sad ko maka tabang” he stated.

‎He spent the whole day cutting tall grass so the area could be used for Agri-Crop training. What made his contribution stand out was how he worked. The jolly good sir didn’t just start the machine and walk away. He first checked the area for rocks and debris, marked off the zone, and even gave a quick safety demo to Grade 10 TVL students watching nearby. Students learned how to hold the harness, check the engine, and wear proper gear. For a trade school focused on technical-vocational skills, that 10-minute demo turned into an unplanned lesson on equipment operation and workplace safety — straight from someone who uses it daily.

‎One grass cutter cleared more than grasses. Because Mr. Otto brought his own, the school saved funds that were reallocated to buy printer ink and extension cords — the same items the Army team fixed that week. Other parents saw his example and brought ladders, hammers, and welding gloves. By the end of Brigada Eskwela, the back field was cleared, level, and ready for student use. His simple act reminded everyone that bayanihan isn’t about giving the most, but about giving what’s needed.

‎When classes opened, students passed the once-overgrown field now transformed into a clean training area. Few knew it was cleared by Allmar Otto’s personal grass cutter. But teachers used his story during the first flag ceremony to teach a value: initiative. Brigada Eskwela proved again that schools grow stronger when the community treats them like their own home. And sometimes, that means bringing your own tools — and your own sense of responsibility.
