โBeware Impulsiveness in 2026โ
Beginning of this year, I had the chance to get some insights from a reading on the collective energy of 2026โ the Fire Horse Year.
Now, from the name alone, many people have the notion that the Fire Horse year is a year of motion, bold moves, and big strides that matches with the Fire Horsesโ energy of revolution.
And this is true to a certain extent. In history, Fire Horse years paved way for some of the most defining events that reshaped todayโs modern world. For instance, 1966 sparked Chinaโs Cultural revolution which forced the country to eventually reform itself in the future.
Another example is the failure of the Russian monarchy in 1906 which paved the way for the Russian Revolution in 1917 and eventually the birth of the Soviet Union after.
So yes, the Fire Horse year is definitely the year to make bold moves that will revolutionize how many things are done for future generations to come.
But according to the reading, this comes with a caveat. Although the Fire Horse encourages movement, it punishes impulsiveness. Now, from the first impression, this may seem paradoxical because most people perceive bold motion as being impulsive but brave. However, there is a big difference between PLANNED movement and RANDOM movement.
The kind of movement that the Fire Horse encourages are moves that have been studied, planned, and strategically crafted in the previous year before ex*****on. This is very different from making movements that are done on a whim or spur of the moment.
Yes, the Fire Horse may open up a lot of opportunities, even for those who are moving recklessly. But the reckless will apparently burn out as fast as they succeeded because they did not plant strong roots in the previous years.
So my insight for this year and honestly any other year (because this lesson applies not just to 2026 but as a whole), is to really plan carefully and logically before going all out. Never base your moves on emotional reactions like ego, fear, and desperation. You may get lucky when the tide moves rapidly, but luck can only bring you so far.
Study, plan, design, calculate, and then execute.

"When Hustle Becomes an Unbreakable Habit"
Hustling and bootstrapping is something that I'm all too familiar with, after all, I've been doing that for the last few years of my life since I entered the workforce.
And I'm definitely not the only one who had to go through it. A lot of young and aspiring businesspeople in the Philippines had to really grind their way to success. If you were an entrepreneur who wanted to make it in this environment, you have to hustle hard for it.
And yes, hustling hard, being totally hands-on, and wearing multiple hats at once is essential for any startup to work. That's where the bootstrapping attitude and character can take you far. You see, startups require quick movement and fast pivoting. To do that, you need to be involved in all parts of your business' operations during the early stages.
But somewhere along the line, I noticed something profound. As your organization, operations, and reputation grows, the same hustle and grind practices that brought you to where you are won't work anymore.
Why? Because your stakes are higher once you've scaled. Your team is bigger, a lot of eyes will be on you, and all of a sudden, there is more pressure to be more precise.
So of course, the answer to that is to structure your manpower, systematize your processes, and be more strategic in your moves.
Now, the problem arises when you've gotten so used to hustling that it becomes a habit that you crave. And in all honesty, I went through that as well. When my first business was already systematized, there was a need for me to start delegating and distributing tasks. But because of this, I felt unproductive and lazy... like I'm not doing enough.
However, what I realized over time was that the feeling of laziness was actually my body and mind's response to doing something that I was not used to. I was so used to the rush of moving rapidly and pivoting quickly that I was unconsciously looking for the same dopamine that I was getting when I was on the grind.
It was then that I realized that as my businesses evolved, I also needed to evolve as well. It wasn't like before where I could just simply make a move and halt it if it didn't work. I had to become more strategic because of higher stakes. I couldn't simply make random moves anymore without thinking of the consequences.
The moment I started to scrutinize my moves and structure them to make them more intentional, that's when I realized that I had started to slowly mature as a businessperson. And I realized that because when I talked to more tenured businesspeople who have years of corporate exposure in public listed companies, that's what they would often tell me-- when you reach a certain level, you have to stop thinking in terms of grinding and fast money and start thinking in terms of systems and structures.
Granted, the hustle mentality is needed when you start because you're literality starting from nothing. So you need to activate your survival mode instincts. But the moment you go into expansion, being purely in hustle mode is no longer applicable. Since the stakes are higher, your moves need to be more deliberate instead of random. That way, you can steadily reach the next stage of your organization's growth.
The you that made you pass stage 1, isn't necessarily the same you thatโs needed for stage 2.

Iโm always happy to meet the readers of my books!
Big thanks to Saturnia Books PH for inviting me and big thumbs up to Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. for their vision of stronger literacy in the country.
I was surprised to learn that a volunteer from Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc., an NGO that Saturnia Books supports, is also a reader of one of the books in our catalog.
It was a serendipitous encounter, so I invited the author, Xander Wee Gonzales, to personally sign a copy for her. Itโs a reminder that books can reach people and spaces beyond our expectations. ๐

โThe Price of Freedomโ
When most people talk about โfreedomโ, they immediately talk about traveling, throwing every responsibility away and running off into the sunset.
But what these people are not aware of is that freedom is not inherently free. It does come with a price tagโ and an expensive one at that.
Hereโs what I learned about freedom from my rollercoaster of a career.
My career trajectory was anything but conventional. Unlike most of my peers, I wasnโt the type to compete with others to enter big companies and work the way up the ladder. And thatโs because I never wanted to just be part of a machine with no impact.
Now, I did have a lot of offers when I was about to graduate because I was an already established ghostwriter during college. But unlike others, I didnโt strive for the usual path of writing in advertising or in publishing.
Instead, I chose to have my first day job in a startup company. And my main reason was because I wanted freedomโ freedom to explore and learn whatever I wanted and needed to learn. Unlike being in a more established company, the usual corporate red tape makes the freedom to learn and experiment very limited.
But this move didnโt come without risks. Although I had the freedom to absorb so many learnings, there would always be the risk of the company not being able to pull throughโ which is exactly what happened. During the course of this job, we eventually lost our office because the sales couldnโt catch up with the expenses.
Thatโs why I already experienced working out of office before it even became a thing. I started working in cafes, public parks, and even in my old alma mater because wifi and electricity were free.
Eventually the company did close and I moved on. However, I still didnโt apply for the usual corporate job and instead, I worked with a freelance writing company as a writer, editor, and project manager. Unlike the usual employee though, I was compensated per project.
Again, this move came with significant risks because if there were no projects, I wouldnโt have anything to work on. And if that company closed, then Iโd be back to square one.
But I did all of those because of freedom. I was not held by the neck because I wasnโt under anyoneโs payroll. I gave them my expertise and they gave me clients. This kind of setup fit my personality because I love collaborating and working with various people. But I was never to type to go under anyoneโs command without question.
I did have to work in corporate for a while but I eventually made the shift to entrepreneurship. This time, I was after financial freedom. I didnโt want anyone using money to hold a leash over me. I wasnโt the type to bend the knee to any boss.
Now, what I learned from all my career transitions is that I value autonomy of choice above anything else, even if it did come with some risks. Of course, there is a heavy price for having those kinds of standards.
I had to constantly get out of my comfort zone and force growth and identity shifts because if I didnโt, I wouldnโt survive.
But for me, freedom from dependency is more important than any money, title, position, or connection that you can ever give me because with this autonomy, I can make true impact.
Now, freedom is often romanticized as a lifestyle of travel, mobility, and an escape from reality. Many think it means having fewer responsibilities.
But what I learned over the years is that freedom itself is a responsibility. It is a power that you need to pay for in sweat and effort so that you can rid yourself of major dependencies on your surroundings.
So the next time someone talks to you about wanting independence, ask them what theyโre willing to pay first.

As an author, we know that the content of the book is not the only aspect that drives its success but also the hands that handle the publishing process. And for my book, I wonโt allow just anyone to handle it.
Big thanks and congrats to Saturnia Books PH under the wing of its founder Alice for creating an avenue for authors who treasure the freedom of their voice.
๐ Weโre grateful to do work that allows original thinkers to put their ideas into lasting form.
Saturnia Books began with a simple observation: many books tend to move within familiar territory, while the ones with distinct or divergent perspectives often struggle to find space.
The Founder and CEO, Alice Meรฑez, created Saturnia Books to encourage independent thinkers and connect their work with readers seeking depth and substance.
With a focused editorial vision, Saturnia Books collaborates closely with authors to shape ideas into books that make readers consider a different way of thinking or perhaps a new way to navigate situations.
Through our publishing work, donations, and NGO collaborations, we will continue to contribute meaningfully to the collective.
Weโre glad to have you with us.

โStop Wishing for Wealth If Youโre Not Built to Keep It.โ
Many people obsess over how to get rich with the least amount of effort โ what strategies to learn, what mindset to adopt, what habits to tweak so money flows faster. In fact, an entire cult was formed around the idea that wealth should arrive easily if you โwish for itโ correctly.
But almost no one talks about what happens after the money arrives.
Thatโs most likely because people automatically assume that wealth is a solution to all their problems. That when the money comes, their lives get happy endings.
What they donโt actually know is that the game changes when they get the wealth theyโve always dreamed ofโฆ and arenโt ready to carry its immense weight.
You see, money is like nuclear energy.
On its own, nuclear energy is not destructive, in fact it can power nations. But without proper infrastructure strong enough to contain it, its raw effects are very catastrophic.
Money works the same way. Money is a very powerful tool that can amplify everything about you from your habits, your fears, your impulses to even your insecurities and your ego.
Now, the thing about slow accumulation is that it exposes you to friction. And exposure to friction gives you the chance to create the ability to contain your emotions. More often than not, people who slowly earn their keep need to fix their habits, face their fears, manage their impulses and control their egos.
But those who acquire money quickly and easily have never had the chance to break down all of their baggages, which results in their capital growing faster than their character.
Ever wonder why a lot of lotto winners, fly by night entrepreneurs, and trust fund heirs make it big at the start but then lose it big as well? Itโs because although they were able to get the money easily, their vessels werenโt prepared to handle the mental burden of holding that big amount of money.
So how do you know if youโre ready?
- If you emotionally cling to money because youโre afraid it will leave you one day
- If inflate your lifestyle while ignoring your discipline
- If you want people to worship you because of your status and money
- If you become entitled and automatically expect things to come easy for you because you have money
- If youโre not confident in your ability to make it all back one day in the event of a dip
Then you havenโt built a strong internal containment system to handle the big money.
So no, I donโt wish for fast money. I would rather train to become someone who can survive it.
Because wealth is not something you attract like itโs some kind of reward. It is a responsibility that you need to prepare yourself to contain and manage.
It will only give you its rewards once youโve shown it that you are capable enough of wielding it.

โWhy Every Post Online Looks and Sounds The Sameโ
Ever notice how when you look at the ads or posts captions in social media, they all sound the same and have the same format? They start with a one liner like:
โDo you know why your customers are leaving?โ Then follow up with, โBut hereโs the truthโ
After that, you get some generic line like, โbusinesses with strong culture have higher customer retention rates.โ
The funny thing is that all post captions I see online follow this same generic staccato format with the same phrasing and sentence structure. Itโs like all the companies hired one guy who only has one style of writing to be their scriptwriter.
And that may not actually be wrong because they did! His name is ChatGPT.
But donโt get me wrong though, Iโm not against the use of AI in automating tasks to save time and make work easier. I am, however, critiquing the lazy use of AI in writing nowadays making every written work sound the same. Itโs like how old school rappers complain that every rapper today uses the same format.
From what I gather, I believe that the process of most AI writers is that they will prompt something like this:
โI want to write about business for a Facebook post. Write me a simple captionโ
Then whatever is generated, they will copy paste. Simple as that.
In any case, donโt mistake me for being anti-AI because I personally also use AI in writing, but not lazily like most people. As a writer for 14 years, I still believe that writing is the art of stringing and arranging words in such a way to touch on certain aspects of the target audienceโs psycheโ and you canโt do that if you sound like the guy next to you.
So hereโs my advice:
- Write your piece first. If you cannot write a rough draft without ChatGPT, you donโt understand your own argument yet
- If you want to edit it, you can run it through ChatGPT but tell it to only proofread for grammar and punctuation errors without changing the tone and writing style
- If you want, you can also ask it to check for coherence in flow of thought
Now, most people would say that Iโm just gatekeeping writing. But if we look deeper, the real issue isnโt the captions that sound the same themselves, but the long term credibility of businesses online. After some time, people will feel it when everyone uses the same words, hooks, and transitions. This eventually leads to discounting the credibility of the businesses
So while I agree AI is a gamechanger that is indeed powerful, donโt replace originality with it.

"A Time For Coaches to Outgrow Their Playbook"
In the past few weeks, I had the privilege of creating a program for our company's Forex coaches wherein the objective is for them to learn, experience, and apply new Forex trading concepts and principles outside their respective playbooks.
Now, you may be asking me, "Why is there a need for your coaches to learn new things when their existing playbooks already work?"
This logic works if you are simply a practitioner. Whatever gives you the best results, stick to it and simply refine/tweak it to adjust to changing conditions.
However, this kind of logic doesn't work for an educator because an educator's job is not to teach what they use. An educator's job is to guide a student to discover what works for them.
In a previous post, I mentioned that everyone processes information differently depending on their own individual elements and forcing a certain way on everyone is not sustainable in the end. That's why good educators need to know how to advise different students differently.
With that said, it's crucial that a coach or educator needs to take in as much knowledge as possible and apply them. They don't need to use that knowledge in their actual practice but they need to archive it in the event that their students will need it.
As an educator, especially in the field of Forex education, I believe that it is our duty to raise the standard of coaches in this country. To not raise Forex coaches who are limited to teaching their own playbooks, but to have educators who have an expansive library so that they can match the right knowledge with the right students.
So as educators, never stop learning and experiencing new things. You probably wonโt use majority of what you will learn, but someone else might, and you need to be ready to teach.
To the coaches of the Fulfillment department of The 30-Minute Trader congrats for wanting to raise the bar!
