𝗡𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗶 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗸𝗮 𝗻𝗼 𝗛𝗶 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺

In celebration of Nihon no Bunka no Hi (Japanese Cultural Day), Nihongo Kumi launched its first week-long celebration with enriching traditional activities at Makati Science High School (MakSci) from November 3 to 7.

The program, a collaboration with Sining Gang, highlighted the practices for grade nine and 10 Nihongo SPFL, respectively Shodō (Japanese calligraphy) and Kobanashi (Japanese short comedy); it also featured an onigiri and bento box-making session open to all MakSci students.

Kicking off the event, grade nine Nobel, Roentgen, and Rutherford students artistically wrote kanji and kana characters as they designed coffee paper scrolls.

Grade 10 Hertz, Maxwell, and Newton students also swept their audiences off their feet in laughter with clever jokes, undermining the Japanese sense of humor and nuances in linguistics.

Culminating the program, the MakSci community prepared delicious onigiris and bento boxes at the school library.

“For the MakSci community, I hope you had fun this entire week in participating in Nihon no Bunka no Hi. I really hope that these experiences helped you get a glimpse of Japanese culture and valuing it. Once again, thank you for participating!,” expressed Macario Inmenzo, a facilitator.

The project aims to promote Japanese culture among all students through engaging art-related traditions and practices, and will have its iteration next school year.

🍙✨ 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Students had an おいしい (oishii) and たのしい (tanoshii) time during the Onigiri Making Activity! 🎌 Hosted by Nihongo Kumi in collaboration with Sining Gang, this fun cultural exchange brought creativity, teamwork, and a taste of Japan to life! 🇯🇵💫 From shaping rice balls to decorating their own かわいい (kawaii) creations, everyone enjoyed a すごい (sugoi) experience filled with laughter and learning! 🥢💖
